On what basis is Clun deemed to be a town rather than a village? It has a parish council, not a town council. Its borough status in past centuries is not relevant to today, is it?Balrik vostog (talk) 14:23, 4 October 2009 (UTC)Balrik Vostog[reply]

Common usage. David (talk) 17:56, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Parish Council -> Town Council now. See their website. David (talk) 17:33, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
BTW Clun had been a borough until that was abolished in 1886, along with that of Ruyton-XI-Towns in the north of Shropshire. Although it had no mayor and did not have right to return its own Members to Parliament.Cloptonson (talk) 18:22, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Clun's town charter was awarded in the early 14th century.

Housman

[edit]

Housman did not write the couplet attributed to him in this article. Rather, he used a rhyme that had existed for centuries to introduce his poem. Andrew G. Doe (talk) 16:27, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
