Should we talk about the field including 5th roots of unity here?
[edit]There's a close relation between the golden ratio and "golden field" and the field of the 5th roots of unity which describes the symmetry system of the pentagon (including penrose tilings, etc.). I wonder how much discussion we should put about it here.
And then in 3 dimensions, there's a close relation to the lattice made from the vectors from the center to the 12 vertices of an icosahedron, which can be used to describe the symmetries of the icosahedron/dodecahedron/rhombic triacontahedron (including quasicrystals with this symmetry). –jacobolus (t) 04:32, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
