Can anyone find a general forumula for the definite integral case? Heck, we need the general formula for everything. _dk 10:44, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard of this method, and I don't see how it is significantly different that integration by substitution. It might be used as motivation for substitution, but once this demonstration is complete, it becomes useless. I think this article should be removed.--24.59.125.38 22:09, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

so much work

[edit]

Why not in example of int(sin(5x+4)dx) stick in 5 and divide by a fifth giving:

1/5*int(sin(5x+4))d(5x+4)

rather than guessing. --Loodog 03:57, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm convinced that the "guessing" in there are just implicit steps and part of the mind process. Your suggestion is actually what the article was trying to get at. I guess it needs some rewording. _dk 05:31, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Request

[edit]

As a special case of integration by substitution, I believe this article belongs in the actual integration by substitution article. Hotstreets 02:00, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

merger with substitution method

[edit]

Although this method having its own page is valuable per se as many courses teach it as an individual method, it is in fact, as stated by Hotstreets, a special case of integration by substition, so it should have its own topic UNDER integration by substitution.Sebastiao 14:20, 5 December 2006 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sebastiao (talkcontribs) 14:19, 5 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
