I see some words in the Russian language which are very similar to Malayalam (words in the Russian patriot song "Svyashchennaya Voyna" - even the first word of the title of this song IS Malayalam). Even more intriguing is that there are words in South American languages that bear similarity to Malayalam. For example, the Aymara people of Bolivia sounds a lot like the Iyer people of Kerala / Tamilnadu ( Iyer Mar in Malayalam). And the Incan King who built Machu Picchu is King Pacha Kutti, . And many of these South American people have a goddess called Pacha Mama, who is currently well known to the South American Roman Catholic Church. Pls check out Malayalam's ancient links to these faraway peoples. Thank you Stuthi01 (talk) 23:21, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

I would like to request an edit to add Malayalam kinship terms to Wikipedia, as this information is currently missing. Malayalam, a Dravidian language spoken in Kerala, has a rich and unique kinship system that differentiates relationships based on gender, age, and lineage. Including a section on this topic would provide valuable linguistic and cultural insight. The edit would include a well-structured table listing kinship terms in Malayalam script, their IPA pronunciation, and their English meanings. Reliable sources such as linguistic studies and Malayalam dictionaries can support this addition. Since the page is locked, I am requesting permission to edit . I request the addition of a section dedicated to Malayalam kinship terms to the existing Wikipedia page. Currently, this page lacks information on this crucial aspect of the language and culture. I believe a section detailing common kinship terms, such as അച്ഛൻ (acchan-father) and അമ്മ (amma-mother), along with their dialectal and phonetic variations across Kerala, would significantly enhance the page's comprehensiveness. Furthermore, a brief overview of their cultural significance within Malayalam-speaking communities would provide valuable context. I am prepared to provide reliable references to support the information included in this proposed addition. Vaisakh parameswaran n k (talk) 05:17, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

1) Need critical updations for Dialectal Variations of Malayalam: Several recent research articles have shown that most of the dialectal variations of the Malayalam Language from different regions of Kerala need to be updated. In Kerala, several regional dialects are spoken, and some are in the process of extinction.
2)Need to update several morpho-phonological terms and words from 'Melame' variations of Kasaragod district: There are several spoken language variations like 'Melame' etc. in the regions of Kasaragod that are in the process of extinction. I will give a research article based on the same to review(attached). And I can give such an accurate wordlist for the 'Melame' Variation where it is the region I was born and brought up by. If I get the right to edit and update the page, I can also provide several linguistic data that help the page preserve such linguistic data and can be used for revitalization. Hello, I would like to propose an addition to relevant Wikipedia pages (such as articles on Indian languages, dialects, or specific regional cultures) that includes documented indigenous words, traditional terminologies, and dialect-specific expressions. The goal is to enrich linguistic and cultural representation, especially of underrepresented communities and oral traditions.
My background is in Linguistics, and I have academic experience working on multilingualism and cognitive science. I intend to contribute well-sourced content related to:
Indigenous vocabulary from specific regions/language communities
Dialectal variants with contextual and historical relevance
Traditional expressions and oral terms, properly referenced from academic and ethnographic sources
All information will follow Wikipedia’s standards of verifiability, neutrality, and no original research. I’m committed to ensuring that these additions are accurate, cited, and respectful of cultural sensitivities.
Please let me know if this would be an acceptable contribution or if there are guidelines I should further follow.
Thank you! Ryn.rahman (talk) 08:15, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
