Definitely needs sources, but this was a big deal, and spawned a movement

OpenAP paved the way for the WRT54G, which most folks would recognize as the start of an open-source revolution in router firmware. It's almost lost to the sands of time, but we can fix this. Myself248 (talk) 18:07, 10 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Very much agree with Myself (ha!). This was important to the idea that commonly available non-pc hardware could be adapted to open source computing. Possible reference sources:
