Requested move
[edit]Famous people with the surname Smyth → Smyth (surname) — From WP:MOSDAB#Given names or surnames "For longer lists, create a new Title (name), Title (surname) and/or Title (given name) page." Also the word "famous" should be avoided in article names as it is subjective. Not all notable people are famous. There is a related discussion at Talk:Famous people with the surname Smith. —Saikokira 20:24, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

This article has been renamed as the result of a move request. Vegaswikian 20:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC) "I don't know yet how to edit but Father Patrick Smyth, born 1824 or 1825 Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, died 14 Oct 1865 in Sydney Australia. Served and supported the miners of the Eureka Stockade who revolted on December 3rd, 1854. He helped save the life of thier wounded leader, Peter Lalor, by hiding him and arranging the amputation of his arm. The resistance was crushed by the British, but it was the first use of the Southern Cross Flag, and triggered a series of events and processes that untimately resulted in the formation of the the nation of Australia. Could be summarized: Saved Peter Lalor, at Eureka Stockade; helped found the nation Australia."user KeepHumbleKeepHumble (talk) 19:14, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
