It is really confusing to findout if uncyclopedia is owned by Wikipedia Foundation or not. This could easily mislead people. I had to google and read few articles to clear this confusion. Please update the first sentence of the lede

  • from
"Uncyclopedia is a website that parodies Wikipedia."
  • to
"Uncyclopedia is a website that parodies Wikipedia, otherwise unrelated to wikipedia and it is not owned by the Wikimedia Foundation."

Rationale: This will appear in the "cursor hoover preview" (when someone hoovers the cursor on the pipelink within wikipedia) as well the "google search result summary" page. This will leave no scope for confusion, doubt, misrepresentation, scans, etc.

Done Rather than changing the lead, I've added the {{Not WMF}} hatnote template to the top of the article, which brings it into line with other sites like Fandom (website). Naypta ☺ | ✉ talk page | 09:21, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Removing Fandom Inc. template?

I am currently questioning whether removing the Fandom Inc template located at the bottom of Uncyclopedia would be a good idea or no. This is because Uncyclopedia has not been affiliated with the aforementioned corporation for almost two years by this point, and therefore, doesn't really have a place there; however, it has been formerly affiliated for, depending on your take on Uncyclopedia's history, between 2006 and either 2013 or 2019.

As such... would removing the Fandom Inc template at the bottom of the page be something you would support or oppose? I'm just trying to gather consensus here. KevTYD (wake up) 15:10, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

I would check as regards precedent with other examples outside the world of Uncyclopedia. In other words, I don't know. Perhaps a Wikipedia admin would assist here? --Gepid (talk) 10:34, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
  • Green tickY Support removing the template, as per the above. KevTYD (wake up) 15:10, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
  • Green tickY Wikia was a host for a while; one fork left it in disgust, it dropped the other website later. The situation is comparable to having an article include a template for a television network on which a subject program no longer appears. Spike-from-NH (talk) 02:38, 11 February 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, don't get the connection to Uncyclopedia. --Gepid (talk) 15:18, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
I've looked at it and joined the discussion, which should clarify it for you. (Have taken the liberty of revising the link above, as the discussion period was extended. Spike-from-NH (talk) 01:32, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Keep or remove mirror.uncyc.org?

The "mirror site" has no reliable sources pointing towards it, and I think it fails WP:N. Casspedia (talk) 13:41, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

The mirror site was created by Carlb in I think 2006 when there were discussions on Uncyclopedia about setting up elsewhere outside Wikia/Fandom. I would say it is of historical reference. --Gepid (talk) 08:09, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

Language sections

Why do we have all those language sections when we can just link to Uncyclopedia.info? 2001:4651:EC4A:0:8CE0:D146:9506:278C (talk) 17:07, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia.info is the site hosted by CarlB. It contains the English "mirror site" which serves as an archive only. Much of the humor contained in those pages is completely outdated and has been removed on the other two updated sites, which are uncyclopedia.com and en.uncyclopedia.co. Uncyclopedia.org was updated to serve as a page to give the reader more information about both sites and visit either one without having to type a new URL. how many sites does this article cover

It is not clear which one, or which ones, the article text talks about.

For instance, the lead claim "The English version has approximately 37,000 pages of content, second only to the Portuguese," is that about en.uncyclopedia.co or uncyclopedia.com?

CapnZapp (talk) 15:06, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Both 'co' and 'com' uncyclopedias are over 37,000 articles. So the line could be changed to say both versions are in a similar position on article count. --Gepid (talk) 23:32, 13 September 2023 (UTC)

Can I upload a somewhat bigger screenshot?

I would like to overwrite the current screenshot with one in 640x360px. I find 320x159 to be a little bit destructive and hard to look at. Is it ok if I do that? AuroraANovaUma ^-^ (talk) 21:14, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
