General Questions / Updates

[edit]

Posting with a COI. Editor Community, please let me know if you have any questions after reviewing this. I’ve tried to familiarize myself with the guidelines and will follow them closely with any submissions going forward. Thank you. Abby5W (talk) 13:11, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A: History Review / Updates

B: Intro Paragraph

    • Summary: Missing information
      • Along with what was shared in A, there are some basic updates to address and add in. For example, Webull Corporation is an American company (it’s headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida). The corporation is referred to as ‘Webull’ oftentimes, and it offers a trading platform of the same name is available through app and desktop (Aside: Which is why it’s confusing as currently written on the page).

C: IPO Section Update

Abby5W (talk) 13:11, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looks pretty basic, so I can work on this. The infobox will need to be edited separately, but I can do that as well. @Abby5W you should also add a COI notice to your userpage (where you explained that you were new to Wikipedia). --FeldBum (talk) 13:22, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think I got everything. It was a bit confusing, so let me know if I got it right @Abby5W
A
I think I got all of this in paragraph #2 of the lede (and I updated the infobox). Couple caveats and comments though.
  • I don't love the SEC citations, but they are used elsewhere in the article, so leaving here while I look for better options
  • The lede is getting a little heavy, so I'm gonna pare down and move some stuff to history.
B
I think I captured all of this in the first line.
C
I moved this to history since the lede is getting too long. PRNewswire isn't a good source, so I dropped that.
-- FeldBum (talk) 04:11, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum, thank you and sorry things were confusing. I’ll clarify by letter heading below, and adding a few more for review. Is there something specific I need to add to my userpage for COI? Posting this request with a COI. Abby5W (talk) 22:09, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A: Another reference for review of point 2: https://files.brokercheck.finra.org/firm/firm_289063.pdf
C: Sorry, could you share why the PR Newswire isn’t a good source?
NEW
D: Market Expansion Updates throughout History
References/Updates:
E: January 2021 Updates in History
F: 2023 Updates in History
G: Early History Updates
  • The line starting “In 2019, Webull’s U.S….” is an interview quote, which based on what I’ve read is first person versus an accepted source? Can this be removed, it’s mentioned twice (redundant).
Abby5W (talk) 22:09, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Abby5W, going forward, I think it would be best to start a new Edit Request for a new requests, but I'll get to everything here.
A. FINRA is in a similar category to SEC filings, so let's leave those citations as is for no.
C. It's not that PRNewswire itself is bad, but that press releases themselves won't work, since they are not considered an indenpendent source. A company can say whatever it wants in a press release.
D. Those seems pretty straightforward. I can add them to the history section.
E. I see what you mean--and I was a miniscule part of that short squeeze (though not primarily on Webull, so I don't think I have any COI here). Let me dig in a bit more and I'll rewrite it.
F. That makes sense. I'll add it.
G. We can't use interviews as a citation to prove the company did something, but they do work as proof for a quote for a company executive, especially a CEO. I definitely don't think we need the quote twice, and I really don't think this interview is part of the history of Webull, so I'll remove it here.
--FeldBum (talk) 01:01, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think I got everything @Abby5W. The history section subheaders don't make much sense; the first one goes to 2019, and the second starts at 2021. I'm going to change to early history and the 2020s, unless there is some better way to break things up.--FeldBum (talk) 03:05, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum, I will answer here with responses and then post a new topic as you mentioned for additional requests.
For B - Could offerings like commission-free and low-cost trading of stocks, EFTs, etc. be added in following the line that ends “and through desktop” be added to intro paragraph?
For D - does it also make sense to add a summary of the locations under Userbase? In that section, could you also clarify the existing language to mention as of February 2024 there were 20 million users (reference 45 should mention, but here is another: https://financefeeds.com/webull-reports-100-aum-growth-in-apac-region/)
For E - G: Thank you for reviewing and considering what is possible. Posting this request with a COI. Abby5W (talk) 21:44, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum Thank you for considering the requests. I noticed B and D weren’t addressed yet. Are you still interested in reviewing those? Abby5W (talk) 18:54, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry @Abby5W, totally missed those. I'll take a look now. --FeldBum (talk) 15:18, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Abby5W, I added in D, but I looked back and this language wasn't in B originally. If I understand correctly, you just want an explanation of what Webull offers in the lede, like commission-free trading and cryptocurrency wallets, etc? Something like "The Webull platform offers commission-free and low-cost trading of stocks, exchange traded funds (ETFs), options, margins, fixed income, cryptocurrency and futures." --FeldBum (talk) 15:50, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FeldBum Sorry, I missed this notification. Yes, what was added makes sense for both. Thank you. Abby5W (talk) 11:10, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Additional Questions & Updates

[edit]

Updated using the Edit Request template - apologies @CNMall41, I’m new to the process and appreciate the guidance. Continuing the previous request process using sequential letter headers to not confuse with the additional list below. Let me know if there are questions. @FeldBum notified you in case you are still interested in this article. Thanks editors for considering. H: 2024 Updates in History

I: Updates in 2024 Probe section

    • When the Indiana inquiry was initiated, the company responded with additional details about brokerage operations, customer information storage, and access. Could additional historical context be added here? I could provide draft language for consideration, if appropriate, something sharing Denier’s statement in response to the April 2024 initiated inquiry?

J: Intro Paragraph

    • Summary: Remove final two sentences or consideration of moving them to a more appropriate section - Is this possible? First line of the two starts “Webull has…”

K: 2024 Updates re: Sports Deals

Abby5W (talk) 22:01, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Abby5W:, not how this works. You will need to post an edit request template. Pinging a single editor can be seen as canvassing. --CNMall41 (talk) 01:03, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Abby5W, thanks for making a new section and request here, as I and @CNMall41 requested. I got started and made some edits based on H and I. With the K edits, I'm think about maybe putting back the Sports deals and IPO negotiations section after the 2020s section, as that one is getting a little long. I'll decide after I or another editor finished the request. --FeldBum (talk) 14:47, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again @Abby5W I did K, but I'm not sure about J. Let me look at some analogs. --FeldBum (talk) 22:19, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @FeldBum thank you for reviewing. Editors, let me know if anything else needs to be provided (references, context) as J is considered. Abby5W (talk) 19:25, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at some other similar pages and I think they support the move, so I moved the line. --FeldBum (talk) 13:28, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Short description

[edit]

I changed the short description to "U.S. financial services company" to keep the description under 40 characters. 🌊PacificDepthstalk|contrib 07:57, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Abby5W (talk) 11:11, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I can add this. Feel free to tag me if you want in future requests. --FeldBum (talk) 13:00, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done, with some small edits. --FeldBum (talk) 13:27, 29 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
