Padlock?

[edit]

Hello, can you add the padlock to this protected page? Protected pages usually have padlocks. 2001:448A:11A0:1425:7C99:A6C6:815:68CD (talk) 05:47, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Vista did get an update to SHA-2 as the updates from April 2012 and above were duel signed with SHA-1 and 2 but requires specific updates that Microsoft released to get the windows update servers working again. 2601:840:4100:2DE0:5123:7575:4EBE:8C19 (talk) 00:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"oac" in description

[edit]

I was looking for information on Vista, but this weird "oac" completely distracted me. If it doesn't have a purpose, can it be edited out? Senturkey (talk) 16:26, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

At the last sentence of the Cost section, it says "These prices have since been reduced to $319 and $199 respectively." When it should now state "The prices were later reduced to $319 and $199 respectively."

Saying that "these prices have since been reduced" implies that Windows Vista is still currently offered from Microsoft at these prices, but Windows Vista is longer sold by Microsoft. "The prices were later reduced" better encompasses the past tense. Boyfromthesand (talk) 14:38, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Out-of-band patches section claims that an update for the "Text Services Framework patch" vulnerability was released for Windows Vista. While one can certainly install the Windows Server 2008 patch on Windows Vista, as they are architecturally compatible, neither the cited source nor any news article I could find support, that Microsoft released a separate patch for Vista, nor did they seem to have endorsed installing the Server 2008 patch on Vista. Which is why I request the mentioning of that update to be removed.

Done You're correct in that there was no mention in the cited source of Vista as a product that specifically received the patch. I've removed the relevant text. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 23:36, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is this true?

[edit]

In the article it was stated that:

"Final release Service Pack 2 with June 2025 security update (6.0.6003.23351) / June 10, 2025; 7 days ago"

However the reference does not match with the claim:
