Tuori is a picturesque hamlet (frazione) nestled in the hills of the Val di Chiana, within the municipality of Civitella in Val di Chiana, province of Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy. Situated at an elevation of approximately 333 meters (1,093 feet), Tuori offers commanding views over the northern part of the valley.[1]
Historically, Tuori served as a military outpost for the city of Arezzo. Its strategic location provided a clear line of sight over the surrounding valley, making it an integral part of a defensive network designed to monitor and protect the region. The heart of this fortification is the Cassero, a castle built in the 14th century, which functioned as a military stronghold and a center for communication, particularly with the Sienese side of the Val di Chiana.[2]
The village is home to the Church of Saints George and Luke (Chiesa dei SS. Giorgio e Luca), a religious structure with origins dating back to the 13th century. This church stands as a testament to the area's rich history.[2]
As of the latest available data, Tuori has a small population of approximately 141 residents . The community is predominantly Italian, with a small presence of foreign nationals. In 2024, the foreign population was recorded at 11 individuals, all of whom were of Albanian nationality.[2]
Tuori is accessible via local roads connecting it to the broader Civitella in Val di Chiana area.[3] Visitors can explore the hamlet's historical sites, enjoy the scenic landscapes, and experience the tranquil Tuscan countryside.[4]
