Myong Chong is a Korean-American entrepreneur, inventor, and skincare pioneer. She is the founder and CEO of Hanna Isul Skin Therapy, based in Fort Worth, Texas, and holds multiple U.S. patents related to cosmetic firming and rejuvenating formulations. She is also recognized for her leadership in both the aesthetics industry and the Korean-American community.[1]

Early life and education

Chong was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States in 1977.[1]

Career

In 1982, Chong founded Hanna Isul Skin Therapy, named after her daughter.[2] The company has developed a proprietary skincare system featuring SOVAS-5™ technology for deep transdermal delivery.

Chong worked with Dr. Gracy, Chair of Biochemistry at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, to implement Human Skin Tissue Equivalent (HSTE) testing—an alternative to animal testing—for ensuring product safety and efficacy.[2]

She is the inventor of several U.S. patents, including:

  • US 6426081, "Cosmetic firming formulation", published 2002-07-30 
  • US 7262224, "Cosmetic rejuvenating and healing product", published 2007-08-28 

Awards and honors

Chong was honored by the Texas House of Representatives in 2023 through House Resolution 139 for her contributions to skincare and entrepreneurship.[3]

She was featured by NBC DFW in the *Unstoppable Women* series in 2022,[1] and profiled in DermaScope magazine for her 35+ years of leadership in medical aesthetics.[4]

  • 2025 Korean American Achievement Award – 20th Korean American Day Celebration[6][7]

Leadership and advocacy

Chong served as the 18th President of the Federation of Mid-South Korean Associations (FEMSKA), and later as National President of the Federation of Korean American Associations (FKAA).[3]

She also founded the Myong Chong Foundation, which supports spiritual recovery ministries and academic scholarships.[9]

In 2024, Chong appeared on the podcast Healing Through Skincare, discussing her journey and philosophy regarding emotional and skin health.[10]

She has also been featured in The Dallas Morning News for her work in Dallas’s Plaza at Preston Center.[11]

Personal life

Chong lives in Fort Worth, Texas, and remains active in product development and community leadership.[1]
