Clinical practice guidelines on kidney disease, Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) and Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), both recommend avoiding the long-term use of aluminum-containing phosphate binders, including aluminum hydroxide. [1][2]
