Lance Stephen 'Benny' Goodman

Although named as 'Lance Stephen' on his birth certificate, 'Benny' is the name he is most well known by. This relates to the band leader 'benny goodman'

Lecturer in Nursing at Plymouth University but also with a Sociological background. He writes about climate change and sustainability as now pertinent issues especially for health and nursing. Both topics are seen through the perspective of critical theory. The health topics he teaches include care of the ill adult, research and evidence based practice and the sociology of health and illness. He is interested in innovative pedagogies including web 2.0 technologies. he has been a guest blogger on 2degrees, a sustainability for professionals website and writes a personal blog on bennygoodman.co.uk and contributed a regular column for the Nursing Standard.

• Sociology of health and illness. • Sustainability and health. • Adult and Acute care nursing - I am currently a module leader for a first year Adult Nursing module “Core Concepts of health”, I have also taught a third year Adult Nursing Module “Care of the Acutely ill Adult”, and contribute to many Adult nursing modules at both diploma and degree level. I am also a module leader for post qualifying modules in ‘Health Assessment and Clinical Examination’ for those working in first point contact care. My other areas in Adult nursing teaching include evidence based practice and leadership and management.
