• Mass Communication has become a big part of everyday human life, today we depend on mass communication from morning TV news to social media feeds and blog posts.
• Mass communicators use newspapers, television, radio, magazines, blogs, websites, mobile apps, and social media to reach their publics.
• Mass Communication means addressing to a mass of people, anything that goes out in a large quantity
• As consumers, from mass communication we get entertainment, information, they are pervasive, and they provide persuasion

Theories of Mass Communication
• Agenda Setting Theory- media may not tell us what to think, but the media tells us what to think about
• Attitude Change Theory- explains how peoples attitudes are formed, shaped and changed and how those attitudes influence behavior.
• Cultural Theory- the idea that meaning and therefore effects are negotiated by media and audiences as they interact in the culture.
• Magic Bullet Theory- the mass society theory idea that media are powerful killing force that directly penetrates a persons’ system
• Social Cognitive Theory- idea that people learn by observation
• Symbolic Interaction- idea that people give meaning to symbols and those symbols control peoples’ behavior
• Uses and Gratifications Theory- idea that media don’t do things to people, people do things with media.
