Sexual Expectations of Young Males
[edit]In this day and age, the pressures for a young adult male to have sex are quite extreme. From the late teens to early 20's if a man has not had sex, he is subject to public ridicule and shame. This can grow to be detrimental over time, affecting the individual under scrutiny and those around him.
Psychological Effects
[edit]The psychological effects of being under a spotlight for being a virgin over a long period of time can have some potentially alarming effects. Men could start to look inward and feel lowly about themselves or these effects could be expressed in bouts of sexually aggressive behavior. A lot of this behavior is influenced by Conformity of the environment one is in and the effects of Toxic masculinity.
Environment
[edit]The atmosphere for this kind of behavior is prevalent on college campuses. Things like Hookup culture and an exposure to alcohol and drugs can be a doorway to more serious effects of a male undergoing sexual pressures from his peers.
