  • Intersectional analysis missing; no mention of how care work differs by groups; women are treated as a homogenous group

  • Article from 1997 is used to explain biological differences and how that manifests in care work

Article title
Domestic Workers
Article Evaluation
  • "History" section could be improved, it seems broad and general. It does not really provide a historical context within which domestic work has come to exist nor the role that economic, social, and political forces have played in its development.
  • Gender is briefly mentioned in the article and how this industry is female dominated
  • "Migrant domestic workers" section is very short. It could help to include intersectionality there and expand more about how race, ethnicity, class, etc. intersect in the lived experiences of these women. Could include the concept of international division of reproductive labor in this section.
  • I personally would include Mexico in the list of situation by country. There is no mention of domestic work in Latin America, but only Latinx domestic workers in other countries. It is important to recognize domestic work in other countries as well like in Mexico.
  • Sexual violence in domestic work section is missing as well
