About me

[edit]

This user lives in Puerto Rico. He is currently pursuing a minor in Computational Linguistics at the University of Puerto Rico, where he studies computer science. Since the age of 12, he has been hyper-focused on Software Programming and all aspects of spoken natural languages, but the subjects that he finds more interesting are Phonosemantics (and its influence on the evolution of language lexicons), the evolutionary history of languages, and the factors that enable their evolution (both grammatical and syntactical).

He is fluent in Spanish and can speak English.

Why "Decolanger"

[edit]

It comes from both "deco(ding)-language-der" or "deconstructing languages -er" meaning "language decoder or deconstruct-er". Depending what etymology one chooses, it can be pronounced either [ˌdɪ.kʰoʊˈlæŋ.gɚ] or [ˌdi.kʰəˈlæŋ.gɚ] on General American English. In my mother language, it would be pronounced as [ˌðe.koˈlɑn.gɛɾ], but don't mind calling me "deco" ([ˈdɪ.koʊ] or [ˈðe.ko]).
