Joostenberg
[edit]Joostenberg is a wine estate near Muldersvlei, Western Cape. It is a provincial heritage site.
History
[edit]The farm was listed as Weltevreden op Joostenberg (Pleasure at Joostenberg) in its 1694 grant, the grantee being a Matthys Michelse. On the property is also a Cape Dutch T plan house, originally a longhouse, but was probably expanded by Gerrit van der Bijl, one of its owners. The house also has a bolbol gable with the date of 1756. [1]
Current Year
[edit]Joostenberg is currently owned by 5th generation Philip Myburgh. Joostenberg does wine tastings and has a restaurant on the site. [2]
