Because you've done this before and been reverted, amd it has the appearance of being disruptive, if not outright vandalism. The whole issue of whether or not to even mention Iran's listing of the US Armed Forces in the article's lead has been discussed several times on the article's talk page and rejected. Since you know enough about Wikipedia to know about vandalism levels and BRD, then you know enough to check the article's talk page, see an active discussion on the subject, and participate in that discussion in order to change the existing consensus. Happy new year. Where to begin with this.... My first edit was reverted with the reason "spam"....which it was not. Maybe it was brash or (unbeknownst to me) against consensus, but "spam" it was not. Even so, If you had compared my edits, you would notice my second attempt to be distinct from the original.

I did search for discussions before I crafted my first edit. The current discussion was opened three days before I made my first edit, but that was after I had already started preparing my modifications. I did not expect to be labelled "spam" for not perusing a quiet talk page every day until I submitted my edits. I do apologize for not checking again later with the probable assumption that nothing changed. I did note the one (singular, not plural) discussion in the archive. But, no consensus was reached. In future it would be helpful to direct me to the relevant discussions instead of serving an elevated and generic warning for vandalism.

Finally your user page serves the impression that you are well invested in the United States military. I respect that. But using hostility and dishonesty to suppress information that could negatively portray it...especially when this organization is known for such things...has WP:COI written all over it. Just saying.
