JackFromWisconsin (talk·contribs·deleted·count·AfD·logs·block log·lu·rfar·spi): Hello! I am an editor from the great state of Wisconsin. I have been active editing since 2020, although I've done some edits going back to 2016.[1] All of my original Wikimedia-related contributions are in the public domain, feel free to use my pictures without attribution. If you have a request for a picture in the south-central Wisconsin area, let me know and I may come check it out!
My first DYK was the Travelette article.(Disputed) My first good article was Wisconsin dairy industry, my second was Geography of Wisconsin. My current goal is to work on Wisconsin education articles (high schools and colleges). Maybe I'll move on to a different topic area later. Outside of content creation, I review new pages and sometimes good article nominations.
If you see me do something questionable, don't be afraid to let me know. I'd rather improve today than suck tomorrow.
I generally use the name "JackFromWisconsin" elsewhere on the internet, but that does not guarantee that it is me. I do have an email address that you use (see tool box) if needed. You can find me on the Fediverse and on Bluesky. On fedi, my handles are: @[email protected] on a Mastodon instance and @[email protected] on a Lemmy instance. Be warned I am chronically inactive. I also chat on the Wikimedia Discord server from time-to-time.
"As a Wikipedia editor, I understand that my goal is the destruction of my purpose." I want to make our website an even great source of knowledge, and in return make myself more knowledgeable and more skilled (a completionist). Our world is fragile – links rot, institutions crumble, and history is made every day. I see this close at home, with the UW System crumbling as we speak. The same system built to further the Wisconsin Idea: "[President Charles Van Hise would] never be content until the beneficent influence of the university reaches every family in the state." In honor of him, I present the Wikipedia Idea: "I will never be content until the beneficent influence of the Wikimedia movement reaches every individual in the world. Nor will I be content until our Wikipedia is complete and all notable topics are exhausted."
On WP:PAGEDECIDE/notability matters, I lean deletionist to an extent. Wikipedia deletion is easily reversible (unlike real world "deletion") and articles should have some standard of quality and length. I think having a (for example) complete list article makes more sense than numerous unexpandable stubs. Maybe this comes down to the amount of reliable sources on a certain topic. Certain topics may be deserving of notability but lack significant coverage in available sourcing. Conversely, non-deserving topics may have lots of significant coverage.
In recognition of writing your first good article and reviewing many others. Your work does not go unnoticed and is much appreciated. All the best, Eddie891TalkWork 13:54, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
