The 2017 DRL World Cup was the 26th tournament. It was held on 12 January - 19 February 2017 in Russia. As with previous tournaments, it was contested by all fifteen Disney's Rugby League teams and one team on debut, which one Disney's Rugby League team is not contesting were the Disney Villains1. The pool names were: Trudovaya, Elektrostal, Klimovsk and Zvenigorod.
1The Disney Villains were not contesting the tournament, because the club were being expelled from the competition for all 8 gross long-term salary cap breaches.
The following rule changes were made for the following competitions:
The ladder rules were used to have two sequential rules for classification. However, the DRL has added one extra rule for classification, the number of points for. Back from 2016 World Cup Tournament, there was one kind of criticism that both the Dreamland Servants and the Corona Unicorns had the same number of competition points of 4 and the difference of +27, which results both teams being tied 5th.
Any circumstances of a team had defeated an opponent in an earlier match and both had the same competition points as well as the points difference, but a team has the lower points for than their opponents, a team's rank is still ruled as higher than their opponents.
Only for the World Cup Tournaments, both ends of each field also constructed with behind posts of any circumstances of conversion attempts after scoring tries, or penalty attempts. Making a goal worth 3 points instead of 2, while a behind worth 1 point only.
The DRL added the title rounds in further regular seasons, sets up for every final week of the month.
