Keran Nair (born 22 January 1989) is an Indian photographer, cinematographer, and creative professional known for his extensive work in commercial advertising, cinema, and editorial photography. With a career spanning over a decade, he has contributed to various film industries including Malayalam and Tamil cinema, and has collaborated with renowned personalities and global brands.

Early Life and Education

Kiran K Nair also known as Keran Nair was born on 22 January 1989 in Palakkad, Kerala, to P. Krishnanunni and A. T. Rajamani. His father was an employee of Apple, and his mother is a homemaker. He has two brothers, Arun A. T., who resides in the United States, and Varun K. Nair, based in Bangalore, India.

Keran was raised in Bangalore, Karnataka, where he began his schooling at ASC Centre Public School. He later continued his education at Kairalee Niketan, Indiranagar, during his early teens. He completed his Pre-University education at Jubilee College, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Kristu Jayanti College, Bangalore.

During his college years, Keran actively participated in cultural events, where he directed and acted in several college dramas and inter-collegiate competitions. These creative experiences played a key role in shaping his passion for storytelling, which later became central to his career in photography, cinema, and visual arts.

Beginnings

Keran began his creative career under the mentorship of T. Selva Kumar, a well-known commercial photographer, music producer, and educationist based in Chennai. During this time, he contributed to various commercial, fashion, and editorial projects. A notable early highlight of his career includes assisting in the conceptual calendar project “Reflection”, featuring celebrated Indian musicians such as A.R. Rahman, Chinmayi Sripada, Sujatha Mohan, Hariharan, Karthik, Vijay Yesudas and others.

Work in Cinema

Keran gained experience in the Indian film industry by working as an Assistant Director under acclaimed Malayalam director Ranjith on the movie Pranchiyettan and the Saint, starring Mammootty and Priyamani.

He later transitioned into cinematography, working as an Assistant Cinematographer on several high-profile Malayalam and Tamil films including: Malarvaadi Arts Club (2010), KO (2011), Deiva Thirumagal (2011), Seniors (2011), 7aum Arivu (2011), Maattrraan (2012), Thattathin Marayathu (2012), Nidra (2012), Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi (2013), Salim (2014), India Pakistan (2015), Pichaikkaran (2016).

Advertising and Photography

Returning to Bangalore, Keran established himself as a freelance commercial photographer and director of photography (DOP) in the advertising space. He has worked with several national and international brands including: Real Madrid CF,Chelsea Football Club, Sevilla FC, UP Warriors, Netherlands Cricket Team, Accel, Mercedes Benz, Cult Sports, Eat Fit, Elektrobit, Myntra, Dell Foundation, Siemens, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Bergner, Kerala Tourism, Kerala Blasters, World Horse Racing.

Entrepreneurship

Keran Nair is the Co-Founder of Seagull Media, a creative production house he started with Rahul Paniker and Anand Ajith. The company focuses on content creation across commercial, cinematic, and digital platforms.

Personal Life

Keran continues to reside in Bangalore, Karnataka, and remains actively involved in the media and creative industries.
