About Me

[edit]

Formerly the inaugural University Librarian at the University of Divinity in Melbourne, I have 30+ years of experience across academic and theological libraries. I now continue my association with the University as a University Scholar and am keen to spend more time working on projects associated with GLAM Wiki.

Australian Women in Religion WikiProject

[edit]

In 2019, I initiated the Australian Women in Religion WikiProject and continue to lead this initiative. The project has curated a list of over 710 women (and associated feminist associations and publications) who are in some way associated with a religious or spiritual tradition in Australia. We are working to create Wikipedia articles for those without them, as well as improving others, to help address the gender bias on Wikipedia. The number of biographies about women on Wikipedia is 20.125% as of 2 June 2025.

Wikimedian-in-Residence

[edit]

In 2025, from February to June, I will be a Wikimedian-in-Residence at the State Library of Victoria, working on their project: Radical Acts: Including Australian Feminist Activism in the Historical Record. This is a Project Partnership with Wikimedia Australia.

Conflict of Interest?

[edit]

I also occasionally create and edit articles related to theological libraries and/or theological education in Australia. Working in a theological library gives me access to resources that can be added to Wikidata and used in the creation and improvement of Wikipedia articles. While my primary goal is to fill knowledge and gender gaps on Wikipedia in my areas of subject expertise, I always endeavour to maintain a neutral point of view and stay within Wikipedia's guidelines for notability and use of reliable sources.
