Adverse Effects Of Oven Heating The cooking or baking oven is an heating element used for cooking, baking, heating,toasting and lot more uese. Despite it's important activities used in our food and catering Industry,it has generated a little controversy on its adverse effects to the health of it's users when overexposed to it and it's contribution to the rise in atmospheric temperature and warming. These are some of the risk effects of overexposure to the oven cooker especially those who uses it in their daily profession. 1) RADIATION - heat generated in the elements of oven has scientifically been tested to generate a little radiation of invincible dangerous thermal energy capable of interupting with the production of homones in the body leading to the trigger of over secretion and under secretions of bodily fluids.


2) DEHYDRATION- the heat that is released from the oven causes a drop in the humidity of that particular cooking atmosphere thereby increasing the risk of dehydration,high metabolism, low blood pressure and high blood pressure.


3) MIGRAINE- the heat pressure can be a stress trigger for migraines, hot flushed face, Rosacea illness and fever trigger.


4) Low Sperm Count- the spermatozoa production in the testosterone sac of the human male body requires a cool environment,so a slight increase in the hotness of the atmosphere can cause a reduction in the quantity of sperm production .


5) FACE/SKIN REACTION- the steam of the oven if allowed to touch the face and skin for to long can cause facial rashes,burns,pale skin, sunken eyes, depression,visible veins,sweaty oily pores on the skin.


6) RESPIRATORY ISSUES- it has been declared medically that all combustion contains Carbon monoxide CO² gas which is poisonous to the lungs. The oven generates heat by either electrical or chemical combustible material and so the steam or smoke contains minute particles of carbon monoxide, which can be dangerous if inhaled for a longer period of time.

However we can not stop the use of oven in our daily cooking but we can have preventive and protective equipment to use when using the oven in our Kitchens and bakeries.

1) Proper ventilation completely with windows,fans, humidifiers and Air conditioners installed to regulate the temperature of the room/ factory, remove carbon monoxide and prevent dehydration.

2) Drink a lot of water and fluids when using the oven.

3)Always use an heat protective face mask, glasses and thick hand gloves when open the oven.

4) use head wears/ caps to reduce heat flow to the head.

5) wear a light colored cloth and materials that are good at repealing heat.

6) Take pain relievers and multivitamins at intervals, including fruits and proper dieting to prevent muscle atrophy.

7) use moisturizers soap and body lotions after work to prevent dry skin.

I hope with these safety measures above the hazards of the oven can be managed and prevented.
