RBudny (talk) 12:28, 24 April 2025 (UTC)This is Robert Budny's user page. I am an American physicist who has contributed to the fields of Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics and Magnetic confinement fusion. I studied abstract mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). My senior thesis advisor was Abner Shimony. After graduating I attended graduate school in the University of Paris, and then I was commissioned into the U.S. Navy and served for two years in the headquarters of the Defense Atomic Support Agency. Later I recieved my PhD from the University of Maryland.
After recieving my PhD I researched and taught at sequentially in the Departments of Theoretical Physics at the University of Oxford, Stanford University, Rockefeller University, and Princeton University.
Later I joined the [[1]] to study Tokamak physics with the goal of developing a practical, minimally poluting fusion energy source. I collaborated with experiments at other tokamak research facilities, including the Joint European Torus near Oxford, UK, JT-60 in Japan, KSTAR in Korea, HL-2A in China, and Tore Supra in France. I also published predictions of fusion performance in the ITER tokamak being constructed in the south of France.
