Richard Denney is a member and former Vice Chair of the Travis County Historical Commission (TCHC) and member of the Texas Historical Commission's (THC) History Stewards / Archeology Stewards Network (TASN): "... a select group of experienced avocational archeologists and public historians who work on a volunteer basis to complement the THC in assisting the public on preserving, educating, and contributing to our knowledge of Texas’ archeological and historic heritage."

I have been contributing to Wikipedia since 2005. As a member of the TCHC and TASN a principal interest is contributing to Texas history, and in particular a focus on the accuracy of information from Wikipedia that is being used for city, county, state and 3rd party documentation, for example historical marker applications, historic signage, Native American history / land acknowledgments, websites, etc.

In my capacity with the TCHC and THC I have worked on projects with Travis County IT (GIS), Travis County Parks, Austin Parks & Recreation, TxDOT, TX Historic Tree Coalition, Comanche Nation Elder Council, El Camino Real de los Tejas Nat’l Trail Assoc / NPS, Austin Historic Preservation Office, Preservation Austin, Austin American-Statesman newspaper, and private citizens and non-profits like Travis Audubon and Friends of Nameless School.
