Ned Randolph, III
Edward Gordon "Ned" Randolph, III (born August 30, 1971) is an American writer and environmental journalist. He is the author of Muddy Thinking in the Mississippi River Delta: A Call for Reclamation (University of California Press, 2024).
He is a visiting scholar at Tulane University with a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California San Diego as well as master's degrees in journalism from the University of California Berkeley and in creative writing from Eastern Michigan University. He received his undergraduate degree at Tulane University and worked as senior speechwriter for former New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial and as reporter for the Baton Rouge Advocate in addition to news outlets in Southern California, covering wildfires, politics, schools, and business.
He has been published in numerous news outlets, including: Oxford American, Thompson Reuters, Yale Climate Connections, Associated Press, The Conversation, DeSmog, and Inside Higher Ed, among others.
Ned III is the son of American politician Edward Gordon "Ned" Randolph, Jr. (February 1, 1942 - October 4, 2016), who served five terms as mayor of Alexandria as well as two terms in the Louisiana State Senate and one term in the Louisiana House of Representatives. His is the husband of Dr. Jessica Shank, a board certified Gynecologic Oncologist at Tulane University, and brother of Aimee Randolph Lapic, CEO of Hanna Anderson.
