[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 14:36, 10 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand the reason for the block, which was due to my affiliation with **NUS-ISS** (National University of Singapore - Institute of Systems Science) and the appearance of promotional content in my edits. I apologise for the edits that may have been seen as promotional or biased in nature. I acknowledge that my previous username may have given the wrong impression of representing the institution, and I am requesting a neutral username to avoid any conflict of interest (COI).

I would also like to disclose that I am an **employee of NUS-ISS**, and I may have been contributing with an interest in the institution. However, I now fully understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia’s **neutral point of view (NPOV)** policy and guidelines. Moving forward, I will ensure that all my contributions are factual, neutral, and free from any promotional content. If I am compensated for my contributions, I will follow Wikipedia's **paid editing policy** and disclose it accordingly.
I propose the new username "**NUSISSContributor**" to ensure neutrality. I am committed to making useful, unbiased contributions to Wikipedia and will ensure my future edits adhere to the community standards.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Decline reason:

Please do not use AI to generate your messages (100% likelihood per GPTZero). AI is not blocked, you are, therefore you tell us why you think you should be unblocked.

Besides which, the waffle that AI told you to write makes little sense.

In your next appeal (assuming), please address clearly each of the four points in the block notice above. DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:28, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

(Non-administrator comment) This appeal appears to have been written with the use of an AI tool (95.41% according to ZeroGPT). Appeals written by AI won't be considered. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:51, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I want to clarify that my appeal was written by me with the assistance of a language model tool to help refine my phrasing and ensure clarity. The content and reasoning were entirely my own. I do recognise the importance of personally handling this matter and apologise for my lack of understanding on the Wikipedia policies/guidelines. Moving forward, I will ensure to adhere to the guidelines. Appreciate your time in reviewing my request. Thank you Institute of Systems Science (talk) 06:24, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

DoubleGrazing Jauerback I understand that my unblock request has been denied as the message was generated by AI. I apologise for my lack of understanding on the Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I will address my unblock reasons. (1) Disclosure: I would like to disclose that I am not compensated for my contributions to Wikipedia. However I am an employee of NUS-ISS and I contribute to Wikipedia in my personal capacity, without any financial compensation. If I were to receive any compensation for my contributions, I will disclose in accordance to the paid-contribution disclosure requirements. (2) Now I understand that my block was due to the appearance of promotional content and my username, which gave the wrong impression that I am representing the institution, and that this is against the username policy. In addition, I also understand the importance of Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. I am requesting a change of username and will ensure that my future contributions adhere to the policies of providing neutral and factual content. (3) I will ensure that my edits are based on reliable sources, are impartial, and do not consist of any promotional content. My contributions moving forward will be unbiased. (4) I am proposing a change of username to NUSISSContributor. I appreciate your advice if this username is not appropriate. Appreciate your time in reviewing my request. Thanks Institute of Systems Science (talk) 08:23, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Your proposed new username is not acceptable as it does not identify a specific individual; it appears to be a role account or associated with a position. Your username must indicate that a specific person exclusively operates this account, though your real name is not required. If you are an employee, that means you draw a salary- that makes you a paid editor, you do not need to be specifically paid to make edits. I'm puzzled that you say your username "gave the wrong impression that I am representing the institution"; if you are an employee, you represent the institution, whether you have been asked to be here or not. Please see conflict of interest and tell what will change about how you contribute, as well as if there are any topics for which you have no conflict of interest that you might edit about. 331dot (talk) 08:34, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Thank you for the clarification. It seems I might have misunderstood the COI policy/guideline, and I appreciate your advice on this matter. If I am not responding in the correct section to your decline reason, please let me know. I would like to propose a new username, 44wermark. After reading the COI policy page again, my understanding is that since I have disclosed that I am an employee of NUS-ISS, I should not edit the Institute of Systems Science/NUS-ISS Wikipedia pages directly. Instead, I can suggest changes on the talk pages using the COI template. In addition to this, I have to make a paid-editing disclosure on my user page, and the Institute of Systems Science/NUS-ISS talk pages. At this time, I don't have any other specific topics in mind that I am planning to contribute to on Wikipedia. But I will keep in mind of the COI policy/guidelines. Again, appreciate your advice if I misunderstood any of the policies. Thanks Institute of Systems Science (talk) 09:19, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have renamed your account. Usually I like to see unrelated edits by a user in your position first, but as you understand that you should propose edits and not make them yourself, I will remove the block. Courtesy ping to Jauerback.
I would post a paid disclosure on your user page. See WP:PAID.
If you find the edit request coding too challenging to use directly, there is an edit request wizard that can facilitate making edit requests. It is permissible for you to directly edit in the situations described on this linked page.
Regarding your proposed rename of the article about your organization, Wikipedia does not necessarily use official or legal names as article titles; we use the most commonly used name by English language sources as a title. For example, Bill Clinton, not William Jefferson Clinton(his current legal name) or William Jefferson Blythe(his legal name at birth). To rename the article to your organization's current official name, you would need to show it's the most commonly used name for your organization. See WP:COMMONNAME. 331dot (talk) 09:33, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
