Rank Hovis McDougall

thanks for your edit. I've reverted your change, as certainly at the time of acquisition, the company was Rank Hovis McDougall, and not Ranks. Now, i've checked, and the official company history says Rank, not Ranks following the 1962 merger. Do you have any evidence of it ever being officially called Ranks?

- I am really most interested to learn that the Company was called Rank Hovis McDougall at its inception in 1962. I have worked as a supplier with the milling operation for most of my career. Having checked various documents such as Annual Reports and Pension Scheme notices it must have changed to Ranks Hovis McDougall soon after. The milling operation was always, and still is , known as Rank Hovis (singular). I will leave it to you to research further if you wish.

- Hmmmm, seems odd. When i worked leading up to there leading up to the Premier Foods takeover it was definitely Rank Hovis McDougall, and if it started that way, it seems odd that it changed in the middle. Will have to do some research! I'm wondering if this is just staff affectation - in the same way that a lot of Nestlé (rhymes with -lay) staff had a habit of calling it Nestles (rhymes with trestles)? Also, did you know that you can sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~? And it also helps if you insert a colon before the paragraph to indent your words, so we can read this like a conversation. Thanks very much for your input, and i'll see what i can find out.
