Fatoumatta's Peer review

[edit]

First, what does the article do well? Is there anything from your review that impressed you? Any turn of phrase that described the subject in a clear way?

I thought the article was concise and easy to follow and understand. The definitions and different sections were well explained. The section i enjoyed the most was the reproductive health section, the statistics provided demonstrated good evidence about eh different topics discussed. The layout of the page also looks great, and the pictures provided great visuals for the reader to experience the culture and visualize the women. Additionally, I read your contribution to the article in your sandbox and i loved it. The information was neutral and fact based, it demonstrated good research and looks like it fits well into the flow of the article itself.

What changes would you suggest the author apply to the article? Why would those changes be an improvement?

Some recommended changes include editing the lead section to give the reader more of an introduction of the women in Ecuador, it started to do that towards the end, however some of the things included in the lead section could fit nicely into another section or maybe create a new section for them. For example, the Quinceañera celebration could be included under traditions, and the women's suffrage comment under maybe something called 'Women and Feminism in Ecuador' etc. Although the sections included balanced coverage some areas could be expanded upon, for example the poverty section, maybe discuss the poverty areas, how does it impact women more specifically in terms of food and activities of daily living. In terms of your contribution in your sandbox, the first couple of sentences under "About feminist movements in Qcuador" could be flagged as none neutral by other readers/editors.

What's the most important thing the author could do to improve the article?

The most important thing to improve this article include, resolving the neutrality issue, and including some Ideas from other sections into others sections more fitting as mentioned above. Additionally, editing the lead of the article into a more general introduction of the women in Ecuador. Additionally, I haven't noticed much distinction between different generations of women, the Quinceañera refers to young women, do you have any plans to include older and younger women and how they fit into the narrative of women in Ecuador? Finally, including more references might be helpful to other readers/editors.

Did you notice anything about the article you reviewed that could be applicable to your own article? Let them know!

I noticed that you included some studies and statistics to help illustrate your point, this is something I could possibly include in my own article. I really loved the pictures, it is difficult to find pictures for my topic without the risk of bias showing in the picture or neutrality being compromised, but i really loved that feature in your article. Great job so far, can't wait to see your finished article!
