[edit]Sorry but you seem to be missing the point. What is needed is a verifiable reference that say the area is named after Buick's homestead. It is not "common sense" (even if it is correct). - I suggest that what common sense requires - and the rules also require - that editors exercise some 'common sense' when editing. Common sense would also tell anyone with "sound, practical judgment concerning everyday matters, or a basic ability to perceive, understand, and judge in a manner that is shared by (i.e. common to) nearly all people" that a new area with an identical name to a historic place within walking distance is named after that historic place.
- At some point - a reference can not be taken because the knowledge is original
- btw, I would accept that what is common sense about this subject to someone who grew up in Palmerston North, NZ might not also be common sense to someone who grew up in Stoke-on-Trent, but then there might be a need to defer to one of your colleagues closer to the source

You can keep conversations in one place, normally the place it started. Please see Wikipedia:Verifiability and WP:NOTIAR. Ignoring all rules is not carte blanche to fail to abide by core policies. I still think that most of what you have added about Buick is irrelevant to the article but obviously you think that how he died or what he did on the estate is relevant so I'm not going to edit war over it.
