Sockpuppet ?
[edit]An admin has ignored your vote against the deletion of linen closet because they think you are a sockpuppet. If you are a real person, please fill in your User page so they won't make that mistake again. StuRat 13:17, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Schwer?
[edit]What are the sources for the name "schwer" for the sound [ɚ]? I've never heard it called anything but "r-colored schwa". --Angr/tɔk tə mi 15:13, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. However, most of those hits have the German word schwer "heavy", rather than "schwer" being used as a name for [ɚ]. The few that do use it as a name for [ɚ] seem to be informal (forums and mailing lists and the like) rather than formal publications, so it still seems inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. As I commented on the page, I think it ought to be merged with R-colored vowel. In that case the name Schwer will become a redirect to R-colored vowel. Also, please sign your name with four tildes (~~~~) rather than just typing it; it makes it easier to get to your user page and talk page to answer you. --Angr/tɔk tə mi 15:58, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
I moved back 100,000 (number) to 100000 (number) number. There is a policy somewhere that the numbers should not contain commas. Having commas is also a bit confusing, as Europeans for example use a dot instead. It is good if you don't move articles like that again. Thanks. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 04:27, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Cat flap
[edit]Hi Foosher,
Can you explain why you moved the page Cat flap to Pet door against the concensus of most Wikipedia editors.
You appear to annoy other editors everytime you get involved in a page move. This is a bad thing. -- Solipsist 07:35, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- I moved it there, because any pet can use it, not just cats. Having an article about doors that any pet can use at cat flap rather than pet door is like having an article about all cold drinks (including orange juice) at soda pop rather than soft drink. 169.157.229.67 18:36, 29 November 2005 (UTC) It's me, I forgot to sign in Foosher 18:38, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- It was not your decision to make. That argument was explored on the talk page and was generally seen as being insufficient to justify a page move. Most things on Wikipedia are done by concensus - that is what the voting on the talk page was about. You were aware of the vote as you took part in it and you also tried changing the summary of the vote.
- A large fraction of your edits appear to be misguided or controversial. I would advise you to spend more time reading Wikipedia's help pages and guidelines. If you are not absolutely sure that an edit you are making is likely to be supported by the majority of other editors, I suggest you avoid making the change or at least ask for guidance on the appropriate talk page first. -- Solipsist 21:16, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
- Foosher, I'm glad that you agree with my reasoning but what you are doing is basically vandalism. Stop adding misinformation, such as changing the result of the move to "The result of the debate was: Move to pet door. Foosher 23:33, 28 November 2005 (UTC)" and removing other people's comments.—jiy (talk) 00:19, 30 November 2005 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]I've noticed that you've recently written articles on a number of phonological features of English dialects. In some of them, however, you seem to be using sources (in some cases in fact copying bits from them) without referencing them. For example it's pretty clear that both the Pane-pain merger and Toe-tow merger articles contain material lifted from an article by Peter Trudgill available online at http://www.norfolkdialect.com/trudgill.html but this is not acknowledged in the articles. Please rewrite these articles in a way that acknowledges their sources and avoids any copyright problems.--JHJ 17:27, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
You and User:Foogol
[edit]From your contribution histories, it is extremely likely that you and User:Foogol are the same person. Please be aware that sock puppetry (editing under more than one name) is strongly discouraged at Wikipedia. In the future, it would be better if you always edited under just one name. --Angr (t·c) 20:53, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- I concur. And unsigned User:169.157.229.67 is also often related. -- Solipsist 21:51, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- So is User:64.194.44.220. --Angr (t·c) 22:08, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
