[edit]Hi Maximmast, I noticed you deleted a whole section on Ambassador Rayes' career -- a summary of her work as U.S. Ambassador to Croatia -- that I had added back in December on the grounds that it read like a political ad. I actually thought it was a neutral summary, attributed with links, and in fact modeled after the relevant bio sections of other U.S. Ambassadors -- see Rufus Gifford and Julieta Valls Noyes' pages. Just trying to be consistent and accurate; any help with adding back in a summary of her work in Croatia would be greatly appreciated! MaryaDiaz (talk) 15:20, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- MaryaDiaz. My main objection to the deleted was and is that most of the deleted material was simply irrelevant and largely meaningless as it contained nothing that pertained to her bio, nor was there anything outside the diplomatic treadmill packed in platitudinous verbiage. If her contribution to bilateral relations was really noteworthy, it should be made clear by citing third-party reliable sources, not her own speeches at public events. Frankly, the whole thing reeked of a DEI promotional, just like it does in Rufus Gifford's, albeit due to different personal features (the latter being openly gay). Mind, in the latter's case, the text could be justified on the basis of the alleged publicity exposure, while I fail to see anything of the kind of problem in Julieta Valls Noyes. The description of Noyes' stint in Croatia is pretty much commensurate with what we have in Rayes' article now.Maximmast (talk) 00:07, 8 February 2025 (UTC)
