Oh, and I have a tip for you: Category:Literature is a high-level category that isn't intended for individual writers. For American authors, try Category:American writers instead or one of its many genre-based subcategories. Cheers, Melchoir 00:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citing books in Wikipedia

[edit]

Wikipedia has a system for citing books. Here's an example I added to Diane Wald.

Diane Wald (2002). The Yellow Hotel. Verse Press. ISBN 0972348727.

which is generated by

{{cite book | title=The Yellow Hotel | author=Diane Wald | publisher=Verse Press | year=2002 | id=ISBN 0972348727 }}

If you cite books this way, the ISBN number becomes a clickable link which ties in library catalogs and booksellers. Try clicking on the ISBN number above, then try "Library of Congress" or "Amazon.com" and see what you get. It also makes the citations easily verifiable. See Wikipedia:Citation templates for instructions.

If you don't do this, others will eventually clean up your citations, but it's easier on others if you do it when you're adding them. Thanks. --John Nagle 03:23, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may have mistyped Pat Schneider's name when setting up a page about her. I've therefore copied the material on Pat Schnieder to a correctly spelt page Pat Schneider, and proposed that Pat Schnieder be deleted. I thought I should let you know :) Dsp13 10:42, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Rabbitman! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 20 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Susan Steinberg (author) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Mary Koncel - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
