[edit]
Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Because Wikipedia does not allow any form of spam or other promotion of people, products, companies or other groups (even non-commercial or charitable ones). Using Wikipedia for such purposes will result in the blocking of the account involved. Please read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for our policies about this.

In addition, user accounts are for individuals only, not for companies or groups or other collective editing. Your username should reflect this. Usernames that appear to be promotional (such as those that make reference to a company or product) violate our username policy and are typically blocked to enforce that policy.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Tell us what new username you want to use. Please make sure that your new username does not violate our username policy and check that it has not already been taken (click here to search).
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If instead you believe that you have been blocked by mistake (i.e., you have not in fact been using Wikipedia for promotional purposes), please write {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message box and replace the text "Your reason here" with the reason why. See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. – B.hoteptalk21:38, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, I believe I have been blocked because of the user name that I chose. I was anxious to get started, and just briefly skimmed the page about choosing a username and did not carefully read the part about promotional user names. I feel very badly about this and will choose a new user name - Jgp507. I reviewed the new content that I added and do not believe it to be promotional in any way, unless reference to the website, www.jewishgiftplace.com, is considered promotional. There was just a sparse amount of information about the Hamsa on the Wikipedia page - about 1/3 of what is there now. I referenced www.jewishgiftplace.com three times, and I'm not sure if that is an unacceptable amount. I am anxious to put this behind me and do the right thing. Please reconsider the block placed on my account. I have more information that I'd like to share regarding Jewish symbolism and holidays. If there is another reason why I was blocked, besides the username, please let me know so I can correct it. Sincerely, Risa Borsykowsky

Decline reason:

We appreciate your civility and sincerity; however, that username is still too close to this one. (Use {{unblock-un}} to request new usernames in the future) -- Daniel Case (talk) 03:46, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your edits were good however your insertion of a link to a commercial website was not. Your username is considered a "spam username" because it appears to be promotional of Jewish Gift Place. Links to commercial websites are considered a big no-no. Please read Wikipedia:External links, Wikipedia:COI and WP:reliable sources Triplestop x3 01:29, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will choose the username Rbb3, which is my initials - Risa Beth Borsykowsky and 3 for my 3 kids. I appreciate the time that you spend re-considering this unblock request.

Updated - maybe I copied the wrong information and actually put in the Unblock message myself? The screenshot did not clearly show me what to do. Sorry. Hello. I am confused. I read the paragraph below: Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s): Allowing username change to Rbb3 (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. (I was unable to do this - no Save button).

But right below that, there was another paragraph that said: This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | unblock | contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request.

I was very happy to read that I was unblocked but then I realized that I must still be blocked. Please help me understand this. Thanks for your time. Risa Borsykowsky

You seem to have accidentally placed an unblock approved template on the page yourself. I'll remove it now. According to your block log, this account is currently still blocked. Exploding Boy (talk) 16:16, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK - I realize what I did. Sorry - I will wait for the unblock. Risa

Hello. While I am waiting to be unblocked, I wanted to clarify the external link policy so that I don't become blocked again. One of the reasons I was blocked was for linking to a commercial website, however, on the "External Links" page, it says, "This guideline does not apply to inline citations or general references, which should appear in the "References" or "Notes" section." I added about 3 paragraphs of content to this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsa and put in a reference to this page http://www.jewishgiftplace.com/Hamsa-Hand-Symbology.html. Since it is a citation, and not a link in the main content area of the page, is it still unacceptable to reference this page? Thanks for any clarification. Risa

It might be OK if someone else did so. We don't get to put in links to our own websites, anywhere. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:09, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
