Question from Patientia1 (05:40, 12 June 2025)

[edit]

Hello, thank you for your help when I had trouble before. I am trying to learn about info boxes for the brands I have written about (Proper Cloth, AMI Paris, and Clé de Peau Beauté. I tried with AMI first to make this by copying the info box from Miu Miu which worked but I don't understand how to make the logo show up. Can you help me? --Patientia1 (talk) 05:40, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Patientia1: To add a logo to an infobox, the image would first have to be uploaded. There's some information at Wikipedia:Uploading images which explains how to do this (and the copyright implications). Once you understand this, I would recommend using the file upload wizard. As a logo, one of the larger considerations is whether it is above the threshold of originality and hence copyrightable — there's a helpful page on how to determine this on Commons. If you are unsure, I would recommend uploading it as a non-free file. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 19:30, 14 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I guess I need to learn about WikiData for this. Patientia1 (talk) 08:31, 16 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Patientia1: Some infoboxes, like Template:Infobox company, automatically fill certain parameters (such as logos, in this case) with data from Wikidata when the parameter is not specified in the template itself. Thus you can add the logo to the Wikidata item, or add it directly to the infobox using the logo parameter; both produce the same result. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 21:22, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate all your help. I think I figured it all out but definitely appreciate if you want to check my work! Thanks agin Patientia1 (talk) 09:47, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, @Patientia1; the infoboxes on those three pages all look good to me! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 21:52, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Julievdh (18:38, 25 June 2025)

[edit]

Hello! I'm looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bellingham,_Washington#Economy and find that numbers around median listing price are always out of date. And giving a single number doesn't reflect the realities of the market: there are clear trends, especially in comparison to the state overall.

My question: am I "allowed" to add an image from, for example, Federal Reserve Economic Data https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MEDLISPRIWA# or is it not ok because it's not "my" image? --Julievdh (talk) 18:38, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Julievdh; thanks for asking! Per policy, most images added to Wikipedia must be freely licensed or public domain. (There are some exceptions for "fair use" of non-free content.) The chart you linked looks like it would not be copyrightable, as I do not believe it meets the threshold of originality. If you just want to add this graph, I would recommend uploading it to Commons; when it asks about the copyright status, you can enter the tag {{PD-chart}}. Repairing Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Hello I previously reached out regarding a redirect as I intended to build an article for "Russell Gordon" that kept redirecting to "Russell T Gordon" and after reading your reply, I agree that the content was subjective and potentially a conflict. Wondering how to revert to the original article or if that's something you can do? I'm not skilled enough to correct this and feel bad it's still up with multiple issues. Thank you. Bentleythomas (talk) 20:24, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Bentleythomas; I've restored the redirect for you. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 20:56, 25 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
