Question from Missclairedee (15:55, 6 June 2025)

[edit]

Hi! I've donated to wiki for years but have never posted or edited anything. I'm wanting to make an article for my father's band that was locally famous in the 1980's and even flew to Hollywood and was on Star Search. I'm using old newspapers as references but it keeps getting declined. I'm not sure what I need to do. --Missclairedee (talk) 15:55, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Missclairedee: your draft is being declined for a couple of reasons. First, each paragraph needs at least one citation that verifies the information in that paragraph. Second, for a Wikipedia article to be published, it must be about a subject that has received independent coverage in several sources. Currently, you've only cited one newspaper article and a brief obituary written by family members that only mentions the band in passing. If you can find additional newspaper articles from other publications, then you may be able to show that the band is notable enough to have its own article. If it isn't, I would encourage you to find somewhere else to publish about your father's band; perhaps a local Charlotte music blog would be interested. User Broskalitre

[edit]

In doing NPP, I came across Russian Unmanned Systems Forces and Northeast Donetsk Oblast campaign, both of which were created by this now blocked user. When I see that an article is created by a blocked user, I always take a look at their talk page and see why they were blocked. Normally, it doesn't have anything to do with the article's they created, however sometimes it does. In this case, I'm thinking the block might apply to these articles. The first is almost completely the work of this editor, however, the second has seen some significant editing by several other editors. Anyway, as you were the blocking admin, I figured I'd let you know so that you could take any further action you deemed appropriate. And of course, thank you for the work you do on the project. Deleted Russian Unmanned Systems Forces per WP:G5. Northeast Donetsk Oblast campaign can't be deleted per WP:G5 because there are "substantial edits by others". voorts (talk/contributions) 17:46, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
