Utshob (Bengali: উৎসব, romanized: Utasaba, Bengali pronunciation: [ut̪ʃɔb] ⓘ; transl. Festival) is a 2025 Bangladeshi comedy drama film directed and produced by Tanim Noor under the banner of Dope Productions, with Chorki and Laughing Elephant serving as co-producers. The story of the film was inspired on A Christmas Carol author by Charles Dickens.[3] The film features an ensemble cast that includes Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Aupee Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi, Tariq Anam Khan, Azad Abul Kalam, Intekhab Dinar, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Shoumya Joyti, and Sadia Ayman.[4]
The film's screenplay was written by Ayman Asib Shadhin and Samiul Bhuiyan, with Rashed Zaman served as the cinematographer. It was theatrically released on Eid al-Adha 2025.[5]
Plot
[edit]Shantinir area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Mobarak was performing music on stage the night before the Eid. But he fell into the throes of death not to finish the song.
Immediately Jahangir came here. He is not bad as a human being, but a little bitter. He has a decorative business. It is also bitterness to pay the salary of the staff. That is why everyone in the area calls him "Khaishta Jahangir".
On one such Eid moonlit night, Jahangir's life changed. At first Mobarak's spirit came and hinted at Jahangir. Then comes the three ghosts—present, past and possibly future. They take Jahangir from childhood to the story of his life that has happened in his life. More shows every mistake of Jahangir's life, the story of regret. Jahangir gradually becomes better and starts to treat everyone well.

Music
[edit]The first song from the film, titled Tumi was released on 3 June 2025. The song was written and sung by Aeidid Rashid and the music was arranged by Level Five Band.[6]
The second song, titled Dhushor Shomoy was arranged by Artcell band.

Production
[edit]The title of the film and its cast were announced on 13 May 2025 at a press conference held at the Gulshan Shooting Club in Dhaka.[7] The film is produced by Dope Productions, with Chorki as a co-producer and Laughing Elephant serving as an associate production company.[8] It features an ensemble cast includes Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Aupee Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi, Tariq Anam Khan, Azad Abul Kalam, Intekhab Dinar, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Shommo Jyoti, and Sadia Ayman, among others.[9] The inclusion of such a large number of prominent actors in a single production is considered rare in Bangladeshi cinema.[10][11] Chanchal Chowdhury, Jaya Ahsan, and Aupee Karim are reportedly portraying ghost characters in the film, representing, respectively, the ghost of the past, the ghost guiding toward the silver screen, and the ghost of life's struggles.[12]

[edit]The film was theatrically released in cinemas on 7 June 2025, coinciding with Eid al-Adha.[14]
