If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Grazing antelope → Hippotragini (currently a redirect back to Grazing antelope) (move · discuss) – "grazing antelope" is very ambiguous and does not seem to be widely used as a specific name for this group of antelopes. Hippotragini seems slightly more common than Hippotraginae over the last 15 years according to scholar [1] [2] Hemiauchenia (talk) 01:28, 24 May 2025 (UTC)
- Where Eagles Dare (Misfits song) → Where Eagles Dare (song) (currently a redirect instead to Where Eagles Dare (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – WP:SONGDAB. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 21:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Bulang people → Blang people (currently a redirect back to Bulang people) (move · discuss) – 'Blang' is the endonym of the ethnicity. 'Bulang' is an exonym rendition of Chinese language. It would be unfair to the ethnicity to use a variant of its exonyms. Their language, Blang language also uses Blang not Bulang. Chainwit. (talk) 09:15, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Stanis Idumbo Muzambo → Stanis Idumbo (currently a redirect back to Stanis Idumbo Muzambo) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME since moving to Sevilla in Spain. Ortizesp (talk) 01:59, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Kopi tiam → Kopitiam (currently a redirect back to Kopi tiam) (move · discuss) – Per WP:COMMONNAME, everyone and online searches addresses the shop as "Kopitiam" without spacing, even in the article mostly uses "kopitiam" itself extensively. Syn73 (talk) 16:38, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Kingdom of Kumaon → Kumaon Kingdom (currently a redirect back to Kingdom of Kumaon) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 03:09, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- José María Calatrava y Peinado → José María Calatrava (currently a redirect back to José María Calatrava y Peinado) (move · discuss) – COMMONNAME per refs, see Spanish Wiki Ortizesp (talk) 14:06, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- San Francisco Parks Trust → San Francisco Parks Alliance (currently a redirect back to San Francisco Parks Trust) (move · discuss) – The creation of the Parks Alliance occurred over 10 years ago and the name San Francisco Parks Alliance is now much more common. If this move is approved, I'll work on post-move clean-up. Thank you 176.108.139.1 (talk) 00:03, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- This article describes the Parks Trust in past tense as a defunct entity that was merged with something else to create the new entity called San Francisco Parks Alliance. The current article has historical value in describing the old Trust before its closure. The current redirect at San Francisco Parks Alliance could be developed into a separate article on the new Alliance. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:33, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Mattie Mitchell → Matty Mitchell (move · discuss) – earliest writings and references of Matty Mitchell were spelled Matty, it's the more original shortening / nickname of his full name Matthieu Michel, it's what he has been known as and spelled for most of the recorded history on him — Preceding unsigned comment added by BuchansHeritage (talk • contribs) 18:19, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- What I Want (Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae song) → What I Want (Morgan Wallen song) (currently a redirect back to What I Want (Morgan Wallen and Tate McRae song)) (move · discuss) – Tate McRae is only a featured artist, and thus, per WP:NCMDAB, her name should not go in the article title. Skyversay (talk) 15:57, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Black-and-white → Black and white (currently a redirect back to Black-and-white) (move · discuss) – Article titles should be nouns and not adjectives per WP:NOUN. American Heritage Dictionary lists the hyphenated version as the adjective spelling and the hyphenless version as the noun spelling. Merriam-Webster lists the hyphenated version as an adjective and the hyphenless version as a noun with the meaning described in the article (though the hyphenated version is listed as a synonym for "squad car"). Most of the data on OED is paywalled, but the page title has no hyphens and is listed as both adjective and noun. Literally Satan (talk) 03:36, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Literally Satan This reverts a 2023 move by @InfiniteNexus that appears undiscussed? Bensci54 (talk) 16:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
[edit]- Miss Star International → Miss Trans Star International (currently a redirect back to Miss Star International) (move · discuss) – Fixing name, cannot move by self to requested page PhoenixCaelestis (Talk · Contributions) 11:24, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- WP:PCM: was moved in the other direction in October 2023. Even considering the organization may have renamed themselves back to the original name, a WP:NAMECHANGES discussion may be a good idea. Per article talk, editor claiming to be executive director, who is appealing their block, had also requested this move. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 14:48, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Mohamed Saeed (Maldivian politician) → Mohamed Saeed (currently a redirect instead to Mohammed Said) (move · discuss) – Adding "(Maldivian politician)" to the end is weird and the target title I'm trying to move it to fits the article better Unilandofma(Talk to me!) 09:36, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- There are two cricketers with the same name listed at Mohammed Said. A full discussion is needed to make a primary topic grab. older ≠ wiser 11:49, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- The two cricketers you mentioned have their names as "Mohammad Saeed" while the person I'm talking about has his name as "Mohamed Saeed". Unilandofma(Talk to me!) 16:42, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- There are two cricketers with the same name listed at Mohammed Said. A full discussion is needed to make a primary topic grab. older ≠ wiser 11:49, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Network Ten Pty Limited → Paramount Australia & New Zealand (currently a redirect back to Network Ten Pty Limited) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME, WP:NCCORP, proposed name is the trading name, current name is the legal name Counconks (talk) 00:06, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- A move to the proposed title was rejected in an RM on the talk page. So no, this is not uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 07:19, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Wairarapa Line → Wairarapa line (currently a redirect back to Wairarapa Line) (move · discuss) – Use sentence case. This term is by far most often with lowercase line in sources. Dicklyon (talk) 00:20, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: In light of past disputes about certain lines, e.g. Talk:City Line (Merseytravel)#Requested move 18 December 2024 and Talk:Northern line (Merseyrail)#Requested move 26 December 2024, and other articles in Category:Railway lines in New Zealand, it appears this has the potential to be controversial. Adumbrativus (talk) 02:37, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:Amir Segev Sarusi/Yoram Kraus → Yoram Kraus (move · discuss) – Finished draft Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)--Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm hesitant to publish to the main page as it stands, it should probably go to draft space and go through WP:AFC first. The article looks more like a CV or promotional piece for the individual concerned than an encyclopedia article. — Amakuru (talk) 10:59, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is a translation of a Hebrew article I originally wrote, which was not considered controversial. I have made an effort to present a balanced account, including relevant context and details. As for the claim that the article does not adhere to NPOV guidelines, it explicitly references companies that went bankrupt and relies on independent sources—many of which are critical, such as court documents and media articles. The only section that draws on less objective sources is the brief mention of the subject’s hobbies. However, I included this information because it adds texture to the article and is not of significant weight; in any case, hobbies are rarely documented by "neutral" or scholarly sources. --Amir Segev Sarusi (talk) 13:41, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

- Post Traumatic → Post Traumatic (Mike Shinoda album) (currently a redirect back to Post Traumatic) (move · discuss) – Post Traumatic (Tee Grizzley album) already exists, will need disambiguation Quwoting2 / Mhm? 11:50, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Shinoda album gets a good majority of the pageviews and may still be the primary topic. 162 etc. (talk) 16:43, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Changing the status quo of this being the primary topic would require discussion. Mdewman6 (talk) 00:39, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Beverly Hills, California → Beverly Hills (currently a redirect back to Beverly Hills, California) (move · discuss) – per WP:COMMONNAME, WP:CONCISE, WP:PRECISE, etc. If "Beverly Hills" is just a redirect and not a disambig page, I can request it. - WP:USPACE:
Using disambiguation by state in cases where it is not necessary has the advantage of providing consistent article titles for places in the United States (a majority of which are ambiguous and so require disambiguation anyway), but the disadvantage of inconsistency with titles used for articles on places in most other countries (where redundant disambiguation is not used), as well as a loss of conciseness. Current convention is to omit the state only with the well-known cities which the Associated Press lists as not requiring the state qualifier in a journalistic context, unless they, like Phoenix, conflict with another non-geographic article; the AP Stylebook is a reliable source, written in American English.

Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 08:29, 22 May 2025 (UTC)- I would advise the OP to further review Wikipedia:Perennial proposals#Remove state from US placenames and this March 2025 discussion on the issue, as going to a full RM discussion would likely not succeed. - Rapid Support Forces → Government of Peace and Unity (move · discuss) – Probably should merge the Government of Peace and Unity into the RSF and renaming it considering the fact that the RSF officially claims they are the government of Sudan. 2606:9400:98A0:92A0:984E:8CCC:55D8:2929 (talk) 17:42, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

- 4th Street (Manhattan) → 4th Street (currently a redirect back to 4th Street (Manhattan)) (move · discuss) – Appears to be established as the WP:PRIMARY topic based on the redirect. Graham (talk) 03:48, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Graham11 I don't disagree with this move, but this page does have an old RM, making it ineligible for RMTR. A full RM will be required. Bensci54 (talk) 13:28, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Specifically, Talk:Houston Street#Requested move in 2012, which found consensus for keeping the extra disambiguation in the case of such numbered streets. 162 etc. (talk) 03:26, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

- Silver Slugger Award → Silver Slugger (currently a redirect back to Silver Slugger Award) (move · discuss) – WP:CONCISE and WP:PRECISE, "Award" is an unnecessary generic descriptor that doesn't make the title more recognizable, and only adds length. Left guide (talk) 02:54, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- It was handled and contested here afterwards—Bagumba (talk) 14:55, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

- The move may create confusion with Golden Gloves boxing competition and Golden Glove association football awards. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 03:18, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- I personally think the hatnote suffices and have no opinion on any primary topic questions, as I have not taken the time to research them yet. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:17, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- Removing "Award" for "Most Valuable Player Award" often makes sense, because the term is applied to the winner, not so much the award itself. But a Gold Glove Award winner would be a Gold Glover, and sources seem split on using the formal "Gold Glove Award" vs shortened "Gold Glove" for the award.[3] A formal RM seems appropriate. —Bagumba (talk) 09:35, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
