Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Only if the scope of the article broadens to the February activity. Putting just the year makes it ambigious in light of that the February event is written somewhere else here. – robertsky (talk) 10:46, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
When I say broaden, it need not be a full article or section, it can also be part of the Background section to illustrate that there have been protests in 2025 before June 2025. – robertsky (talk) 10:48, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also worth noting there was a high-participation RM @Talk:June 2025 Los Angeles protests/Archive 1#Requested move 8 June 2025 closed as "no consensus" mere hours before this technical request was made, after two days of discussion. Whether to include June was only a minor point in the discussion but it was raised, and has been raised elsewhere on Talk, and is contested. --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 13:25, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • London Life Insurance  London Life (move · discuss) – Moved the play of this name to disambiguated page London Life (play). The more famous insurance company, currently using the title London Life Insurance should have the title London Life. Tsc9i8 (talk) 13:43, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Tsc9i8 More famous based on what? In the instance multiple topics are ambiguous, we base our decision off of WP:PTOPIC, we can look at various factors such as pageviews, historical and modern usage in sources, web search results, google NGRAM and trends results, among others. Typically if it isn't very obvious (which is rare), a discussion is a more productive way to decide. We would also need to decide if "London Life" is the common name of the insurance company, which it may or may not be (despite what they call themselves) ASUKITE 15:47, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The play is obscure: there are no unique sources on it, and it ran for only 36 performances. The insurance company was around for 125 years and per the bibliography on the page, there are numerous books dedicated to it. "London Life" was its common name, as seen here: https://www.canadalife.com/about-us/who-we-are/our-history-london-life.html. Tsc9i8 (talk) 16:06, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:RMT is used for technical requests. It is not used for primary topic grabs. OP, please start a discussion per WP:PCM. 162 etc. (talk) 18:38, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there's a primary topic between these two and also the London Life magazine. I just disambiguated the incoming links, and they were actually distributed evenly between the three topics. I've created a dab page at London Life, which I think is how it should stay.  — Amakuru (talk) 19:10, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Gothic (upcoming video game)  Gothic 1 Remake (currently a redirect back to Gothic (upcoming video game)) (move · discuss) – See the talk page, where a consensus between (so far only two) participants has been reached. Gothic 1 Remake is the proper title as per WP:COMMONNAME. The article has been moved four times already (1)(2)(3)(4). All moves were done without a prior discussion. But not this time. The title "Gothic 1 Remake" is already existing as a redirect, because one of the four moves (2) was to "Gothic 1 Remake". The user that this move was done to is the User:Timur Khodyrev. He is a member of the developer of the game (Alkimia Interactive). But I am not; Im just a fan of the Gothic series. The current title is misleading, because developer aswell as publisher have never really set a release date...the game is just expected to be released this year. "Gothic 1 Remake" is the official title of the game (see the official site) aswell as the multiple sales sites (Steam, GOG, Publishers Store)...which are linked on the talk page of the article. LennBr (talk) 22:31, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@LennBr If the article has previously been moved a few times then you'll need to start a RM. Two people in a year old discussion is not enough consensus for this. CoconutOctopus talk 23:03, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@CoconutOctopus Alright. If the game gets released within this year I am fine with the current title. But as long as the release date is not fixed to 2025, the title can be misleading. Therefore I would appreciate that you move it to Gothic 1 Remake. I was the person, who created the article. I had chosen the title "Gothic (remake)" back in 2023 as a start. Not one day later, the article was moved to "Gothic (upcoming video game)"...until it was moved to "Gothic 1 Remake". LennBr (talk) 14:25, 31 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Admin: I am still unable to move the article to "Gothic 1 Remake". I would like to request that you do it for me. Thanks in advance. LennBr (talk) 19:37, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@LennBr they aren't going to. This requires a discussion - you can click the "discuss" link above, fill in your rationale and submit to open one. Multiple moves indicate possible disagreement over the title, so we need to agree on one at this point before moving it. ASUKITE 16:01, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Kailash29792 Please see the objection by BusterD. GTrang (talk) 15:30, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ninixed page protection is preventing me from moving this. Appears consistent and the 'Q' was partially supported in the recent RM (which had minimal participation) ASUKITE 15:54, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like this was already here, but also above - script seemed to handle that well. I'll leave my comment in any case. ASUKITE 15:56, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
