Today, I wrote the article for In re Turner, an 1867 circuit case heard by Chief Justice of the United States Salmon P. Chase on the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. This book by Harold Hyman is the most comprehensive account of that case and much of the coverage that the new article cites relies on Hyman's work, so I am seeking the full book. My local library does not have the book, nor do the Wikipedia Library databases seem to contain an electronic form. Used copies seem to be sold at low prices, so this seems like a good request to open this new initiative. Thanks for your work RAdimer-WMF! 04:51, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ViridianPenguin: Thanks for being the first request!!! I've added a new FAQ section on the full books question, and your description does explain why you need the full book. I'll send you an email with next steps. RAdimer-WMF (talk) 03:24, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Received and responded! 😊 ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 04:13, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your work to get this pilot up, Rae! I've spent some time contributing to Studio Ghibli–related subjects on the project and this academic work is likely to be an essential resource when improving content in the area in the future (particularly judging by the reviews left by Helen McCarthy and Susan J. Napier). Since it was published relatively recently and Bloomsbury Academic is sadly not part of the Wikipedia Library's collection, this is likely to be the most feasible way I might access it. Please let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:34, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Just noting that since both Rae and TechnoSquirrel69 are in the US, the American Bloomsbury website should presumably be used for ordering once the book releases tomorrow at this link instead. ViridianPenguin🐧 (💬) 19:49, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, ViridianPenguin. I'm not sure if this pilot is focused only on physical copies, but if the request is accepted, I would be perfectly alright with an e-book copy (with a preference towards the PDF so I can cite page numbers). TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 02:40, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@TechnoSquirrel69: Thanks for your request! I've added a new FAQ section on the full books question, but given that this book only became available today I don't think posting on RX would be necessary. I'll send you an email with next steps. I've long had the article Tun Perak on my list for improvement, and aim to do that project this summer. While I can access most good academic works on the Malacca Sultanate and Malay history via the Wikipedia library and interlibrary loan, this one seems inaccessible without purchasing it - no digital copy appears to exist. Thank you! —Ganesha811 (talk) 01:52, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Ganesha811: Hi, thanks for your request! Noting that I've added a new FAQ section on the full books question, and I think your description is sufficient given that the book is entirely about the subject you plan to write about. One concern: I don't see any options for purchase on the link provided. Do you know where this is would be available? Best, RAdimer-WMF (talk) 03:30, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RAdimer-WMF: I have found two places where I think we can buy or borrow a copy: Google Books and the National Library Board of Singapore. Robertsky is in Singapore and might be able to help if the book is available through a local physical or digital store. – DreamRimmer 05:39, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The book is in the Reference Library. I believe there is a trial to loan reference books out at the moment, but otherwise, it would have been a read-on-premise book. It is not available for sale, either physically or as an eBook. Published in 1957, this is likely out of print, and whatever copies floating around are likely in secondhand book stores here which requires one to visit to sift through the catalog for the availability in person. – robertsky (talk) 09:54, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And oh... the book is 25 pages long... Fair use is about 10%... so 2-3 pages can be scanned. – robertsky (talk) 09:59, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah - I can't find anywhere that is selling the book for money. It seems pretty obscure. Worldcat says there's a few copies in the USA - at the University of Michigan, Cornell, and Yale. This might be a case of asking a fellow Wikipedian to get it via interlibrary loan and share a few relevant pages. —Ganesha811 (talk) 13:59, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Robertsky, if you are able to access the book from the National Library in Singapore, and email me a few relevant pages, that would be wonderful! If you don't have time or can't be bothered, no worries. Thank you. —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:01, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will be back at Cornell in July/August, if nobody can take a look sooner. Eddie891 Talk Work 15:49, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I will reach out if that is necessary. Much appreciated! —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:55, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
i see what I can do. 🤞 – robertsky (talk) 15:53, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I really appreciate it. :) —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:55, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Want to work on articles like 1967 Pacific typhoon season and this public domain work would be useful for filling out them. Norbillian (talk) 20:58, 11 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Norbillian: Just noting that I've transcluded your request onto the requests page per the instructions. Also, how do you know this work is in the public domain? If it is, it actually may be within the scope of RX to fulfill, since it would not be a copyright violation to send the whole thing. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 13:00, 12 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
TechnoSquirrel69, according to this catalog it's still under copyright, so I'll assume so. RAdimer-WMF (talk) 03:37, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Norbillian: Do you have a link to where this item could be purchased? Best, RAdimer-WMF (talk) 03:37, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
