Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Gil de León → Gil de Leon (currently a redirect back to Gil de León) (move · discuss) – None of the references use diacritics. Howard the Duck (talk) 21:58, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Stellar engulfment → Planetary engulfment (currently a redirect instead to Planetary system#Lower-mass stars) (move · discuss) – Correct name, what's being engulfed is a planet, not a star 21 Andromedae (talk) 00:25, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Disputed territories of India → Territorial disputes of India (currently a redirect back to Disputed territories of India) (move · discuss) – WP:CONSISTENT with similar articles, Territorial disputes of the People's Republic of China, Territorial disputes of Japan, Territorial disputes of Nicaragua. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 05:02, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Territories claimed by the Philippines → Territorial disputes of the Philippines (currently a redirect back to Territories claimed by the Philippines) (move · discuss) – WP:CONSISTENT with similar articles, Territorial disputes of the People's Republic of China, Territorial disputes of Japan, Territorial disputes of Nicaragua. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 05:02, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Skillsville → Skillsville (currently a redirect instead to List of programs broadcast by PBS Kids#Original programming) (move · discuss) – Current Skillsville page is a redirect with more than one revision. The article draft has been improved an expanded since last review submission, and overall notability has increased due to recent news events (program cancellation resulting from U.S. Department of Education grant termination.) Itspeeebs (talk) 14:18, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Moïse Kouamé → Moïse Kouamé (move · discuss) – Editor superseded existing draft and published a low-quality and minimally-sourced article. This is the second time they have done this; the first was with Théo Papamalamis. Mellamelina (talk) 16:34, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Kushtia Stadium → Shaheed Abrar Fahad Stadium (currently a redirect back to Kushtia Stadium) (move · discuss) – New Name:[1][2][3] Niasoh ❯❯❯ Wanna chat? 18:08, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Buttock augmentation → Gluteoplasty (currently a redirect back to Buttock augmentation) (move · discuss) – The lead immediately names the procedure "Gluteoplasty" and I think it should fit the pattern set by Rhinoplasty and Vaginoplasty. I tried to move it myself, but it failed. Yyannako (talk) 20:39, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ludmila (given name) → Ludmila (move · discuss) – Obvious primary topic. The half dozen non-given name entries should be moved to Ludmila (disambiguation) Clarityfiend (talk) 22:01, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- The Axis Club → Mod Club (currently a redirect back to The Axis Club) (move · discuss) – The name of the nightclub in Toronto, Canada was reverted to its original name the Mod Club, therefore the article title should be reverted too Cltjames (talk) 03:24, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
[edit]- No Idea (song) → No Idea (move · discuss) – No other articles with only the name "No Idea" exist and No Idea Records, which the page repoints to, is not as relevant. When you search up "No Idea" anywhere, such as Google or YouTube, the majority of the results point towards the single by Don Toliver. I think this is a very easy and unquestionable case. 172.56.21.153 (talk) 01:48, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Not sure we can simply dismiss the record label out of hand. And there are several other songs with the title that redirect to the respective albums. Perhaps there is a case for the Toliver song being the primary topic, but simple page views are not overwhelming. Even if there is a primary topic, there should be disambiguation for No Idea (Mary J. Blige song), No Idea (Muna song), and No Idea (Big Time Rush song), as well as the label and the Toliver song. older ≠ wiser 14:36, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- I understand your point. To fix that issue, we can put a hatnote at the top after the page gets moved. Those other songs do not have articles, but we can repoint people to some of them with the main one itself. 172.56.21.219 (talk) 17:14, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

- Primary topic grabs are not uncontroversial. 162 etc. (talk) 21:52, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
- Ben Rice (baseball) → Ben Rice (move · discuss) – Over the last month, the baseball player accounts for 96.5% of total pageviews for the topic "Ben Rice" and 96.3% of median pageviews. Since the beginning of the year, those numbers are 95.9% and 92.9%, respectively. So not a product of recency, but a clear main topic. The baseball player should have the base, non-disambiguated page name. Debartolo2917 (talk) 16:45, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Clearly, WP:RECENTISM is a factor in this sports player's current popularity. (This is just a comment, not an objection.) — BarrelProof (talk) 18:55, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

- Baṛī ye → Bari ye (currently a redirect back to Baṛī ye) (move · discuss) – WP:TSC. — Ö S M A N (talk · contribs) 06:03, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- @EmperorÖsmanIXXVMD: The move appears to be contested, or at least that's how I understand User:Voorts's edit summary Special:Diff/1292430159. That means, to pursue the move, you should start an RM discussion (which you can create by clicking the "discuss" link). Adumbrativus (talk) 04:55, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Sikkimese Bhutia language → Bhutia language (currently a redirect back to Sikkimese Bhutia language) (move · discuss) – "Bhutia language" is the WP:COMMONNAME for the language—it's not often called "Sikkimese Bhutia language", just "Bhutia language" or "Sikkimese language". In addition, there's no other Bhutia language, so no need to disambiguate; this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for that title. Ookap (talk) 19:32, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Ookap: As the title has been the subject of past RM discussion – see Talk:Sikkimese Bhutia language – you will need a new RM discussion (which you can create by clicking the "discuss" link) in order to change it back to Bhutia language. Adumbrativus (talk) 04:42, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- South Punjab Province → Saraikistan (currently a redirect back to South Punjab Province) (move · discuss) – Please revert undiscussed move by blocked sockpuppet Vk8435820, who moved the article on 18 April 2023 without discussing anything. Saraikistan is far far more commonly used than "South Punjab" FujaFula (talk) 22:26, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- @FujaFula: For a few reasons, I think this should go to a RM discussion (which you can create by clicking the "discuss" link). The move was two years ago, and it arguably may be "stable" "for a long time" (see WP:TITLECHANGES for these not precisely defined terms) and not subject to an immediate revert. Although User:Vk8435820 is blocked (for copyright violations), the 2023 move was endorsed by another editor (Special:Diff/1151041150). The move appears potentially controversial. Adumbrativus (talk) 04:04, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Netta → Netta (genus) (currently a redirect back to Netta) (move · discuss) – Netta Barzilai is known as Netta and is the more common usage. Netta should then become a redirect to Netta Barzilai, which would also need a link to Netta (disambiguation). Netta Barzilai could also be renamed to Netta, but I'm new and don't know what would be preferred. BroJac5246 (talk) 19:34, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
- @BroJac5246 This primary topic grab doesn't seem clearly correct to me. jlwoodwa (talk) 18:09, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- To be clear, I would recommend this be a full RM discussion, not a technical request. jlwoodwa (talk) 18:12, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

- Moist county (Kentucky) → Moist county (currently a redirect back to Moist county (Kentucky)) (move · discuss) – Unnecessary disambiguation. DigitalIceAge (talk) 04:29, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Valereee moved the article in 2023 (after which the disambiguator was adjusted twice) probably because the text is specific to Kentucky, though moist counties exist elsewhere in the U.S. The redirect can be boldly retargeted to, for example, Dry county. If (Kentucky) doesn't have enough sources to justify a standalone article, it can be redirected to a broader article like the one on Kentucky alcohol laws. - Megabus (Europe) → Megabus (United Kingdom) (currently a redirect back to Megabus (Europe)) (move · discuss) – Megabus ceased operations outside of the UK years ago, operations were taken over by Flixbus. Coleisforeditor (talk) 18:53, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Coleisforeditor There was a prior discussion which resuitled in this move. While it has been a long time since, given that the article is move protected, opening a discussion might be prudent. – robertsky (talk) 01:02, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- National League (Bangladesh) (currently a redirect to Jatiya League) → Bangladesh National League (currently a redirect instead to Jatiya League) (move · discuss) – Official name. AimanAbir18plus (talk) 16:52, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Another editor has moved the article to Jatiya League. Probably best to start an RM and discuss. Also note the potential ambiguity with National Cricket League. 162 etc. (talk) 15:47, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Gothic (2025 video game) → Gothic 1 Remake (currently a redirect back to Gothic (2025 video game)) (move · discuss) – See the talk page, where a consensus between (so far only two) participants has been reached. Gothic 1 Remake is the proper title as per WP:COMMONNAME. The article has been moved four times already (1)(2)(3)(4). All moves were done without a prior discussion. But not this time. The title "Gothic 1 Remake" is already existing as a redirect, because one of the four moves (2) was to "Gothic 1 Remake". The user that this move was done to is the User:Timur Khodyrev. He is a member of the developer of the game (Alkimia Interactive). But I am not; Im just a fan of the Gothic series. The current title is misleading, because developer aswell as publisher have never really set a release date...the game is just expected to be released this year. "Gothic 1 Remake" is the official title of the game (see the official site) aswell as the multiple sales sites (Steam, GOG, Publishers Store)...which are linked on the talk page of the article. LennBr (talk) 22:31, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- @LennBr If the article has previously been moved a few times then you'll need to start a RM. Two people in a year old discussion is not enough consensus for this. CoconutOctopus talk 23:03, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- @CoconutOctopus Alright. If the game gets released within this year I am fine with the current title. But as long as the release date is not fixed to 2025, the title can be misleading. Therefore I would appreciate that you move it to Gothic 1 Remake. I was the person, who created the article. I had chosen the title "Gothic (remake)" back in 2023 as a start. Not one day later, the article was moved to "Gothic (upcoming video game)"...until it was moved to "Gothic 1 Remake". LennBr (talk) 14:25, 31 May 2025 (UTC)

- Dhofar War → Dhofar Rebellion (currently a redirect back to Dhofar War) (move · discuss) – Clear WP:COMMONNAME per ngrams 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 08:21, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Abo Yemen Requires discussion based on move history. – robertsky (talk) 01:58, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
