Yellowknife (2021 population: 20,340[1]) is a Canadian city. It is the capital of the Northwest Territories of Canada. It is located on the north shore of Great Slave Lake. The city used to be a mining town until the 1980's.

On August 16, 2023, the city of Yellowknife had to evacuate because of the growing wildfires near the area.[2]
