When not to use links

It is possible to create links to every word in an article. But providing too many defeats their purpose by obscuring the most relevant links. Here's an example of overlinking:

Wikipedia's greatness stems from being able to link articles together easily, but don't overdo it. It can get really annoying and does not help the reader.

The above passage hides the relevant link. Compare that with this:

Wikipedia's greatness stems from being able to link articles together easily, but don't overdo it. It can get really annoying and does not help the reader.

Information icon Hi DeaconShotFire! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Harvey Weinstein that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Furthermore, your edit has been reverted, as the current consensus on the talk page leans towards including the sex offender fact before the film producer fact. You said the reasoning is subjective, but it is actually an objective fact that Weinstein will always be a sex offender and currently is not a film producer.FORMALDUDE (talk) 03:09, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is subjective is which of the two he is more well known for. It's also customary to state an article subject's nationality at the beginning of the lead section; Weinstein isn't a former American, is he? DeaconShotFire (talk) 16:05, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Elizabeth II, you may be blocked from editing. Peter Ormond 💬 16:28, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not only do you, as far as I can tell, not have the power to block me from editing, you have disrupted Wikipedia as well, by doing exactly what I did. Greetings!

Greetings, DeaconShotFire! I am not a "you're a bootlicker monarchist" as you claim. I altered the description of the image to "Her Majesty"; as it appeared in the British royalty template I provided, until another user edited the template, after which I restored the previous caption. And she was not christened with the surname "Windsor". Also, see other monarch's pages and archive talk page discussions; we don't list their surnames there. Such contributions should always be discussed on the respective article's talk page. Peter Ormond 💬 16:14, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for copying my style of writing; must've taken you a while to come up with that one. The edit to that template was in response to your bizarre edit, given that it hadn't been edited in 3 years. Regardless, it makes sense. Reducing deference to unelected tyrants wherever possible.
Her christening is totally irrelevant; just as a person whose name has been changed has their new name listed first, so should old Liz. I'll probably take this up wherever necessary, in the hope that Wikipedia stops giving bullshit special treatment to royalty. Clearly the definition of royalty is totally subjective and flexible on this website, as Jean-Bédel Bokassa -- who took control of his government and declared himself Emperor -- isn't referred to by his royal style Bokassa I, yet articles about descendants of Russian and French royalty, people who have no power at all, still use royalty templates.
