Sruthy Suresh (born 18 July 1996) is an Indian actress, classical dancer, and media professional who predominantly works in the Malayalam film and web entertainment industry. She gained popularity through her performance in the YouTube series Rock Paper Scissors by Karikku and has since acted in a variety of Malayalam films and web series. Known for her versatile performances across digital platforms and cinema, Sruthy is also a trained classical dancer with accolades in both dance and theatre.[1]

Early life and education

Sruthy Suresh was born on 18 July 1996 in Thiruvalla, Kerala, to Suresh Kumar and Anitha Suresh. She has a brother, Suresh Kumar, who appeared in the Malayalam film Queen (2018).

Sruthy began learning classical dance at the age of four and is trained in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and various forms of folk dance. She has won numerous awards at Kerala state-level Kalolsavams, South Zone and National Youth Festivals in both dance and theatre categories, including skit, mime, one-act plays, and folk orchestra.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication and Video Production from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, and a Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism from the University of Kerala’s Kariavattom campus, where she was the first-rank holder for the 2018–2020 batch. Prior to her full-time entry into the film industry, she worked as an ideation manager and program producer at a digital marketing firm.

Career

Sruthy made her acting debut at the age of five in the telefilm Deepangal Sakshi, directed by Siddhartha Siva. Her professional breakthrough came through Karikku, a Malayalam YouTube channel, in the hit web series Rock Paper Scissors, directed by Adityan Chandrasekhar.

In the 2022 Malayalam film Palthu Janwar, directed by Sangeeth P. Rajan and produced by Bhavana Studios, Sruthy Suresh portrayed the character Stephy. Her performance received positive reviews from critics and was noted to be equally impactful alongside the lead role.[2]

She has since appeared in several Malayalam films, including:

Personal life

Sruthy Suresh married Sangeeth P. Rajan, a Malayalam film director, in 2022.[1] [3] [4] [5] Their wedding was widely covered in media. He directed Palthu Janwar, which starred Basil Joseph and was produced by Bhavana Studios.

Sruthy first met Sangeeth P. Rajan on the sets of the film June, where he worked as the chief associate director. Their acquaintance developed into a friendship, which eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship. The two later collaborated on Palthu Janwar, and eventually got married in 2022.[6]
