  • Comment: I'm not sure Safari Scribe's concern was addressed. Between their comment 9 months ago and the latest re-submission, you have — among other, minor edits — added a single reference; a (rather niche) magazine from 1971. I'm not seeing how that takes us to SIGCOV. Perhaps Safari Scribe will feel differently. MWFwiki (talk) 01:59, 25 May 2025 (UTC)

"Tightrope Ride" is a song by the American rock band The Doors released as a single in 1971.

Composition and lyrics

[edit]

The lyrics address Morrison's self-destructive lifestyle.[4]

Release

[edit]

Ray Manzarek chose "Tightrope Ride" and "Ships w/ Sail"s as the singles as they were his favorite songs from Other Voices.[5]

Reception

[edit]

Record World said the song was a "knockout rouser that amply demonstrates the band's ability to rock on successfully with other voices."[6] Cashbox called it a "cut which should have no trouble proving that the group is an eternal on both singles and album charts. A mover, start to finish."[7] The Guardian critic Annie Zaleski ranked it number 28 in her ranking of every song by the Doors, stating it included the "garage-rock barnburner" and it was "led by Manzarek’s cathartic howl".[2]
