The team of Paul Wight and Chris Jericho, better known as Jeri-Show, are a professional wrestling tag team currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). They previously competed in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) promotion, where Wight was known as (The) Big Show.[1]
The duo made their debut in July 2009 at WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view event, where Jericho replaced the legitimate injured Edge with Show as his tag team partner in his defense of the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship (which was made by the unification of the World Tag Team Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship).[5][6]
Throughout the remainder of 2009, Jeri-Show were involved in several highly promoted feuds and angles, as well as defending the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship and challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship.[7] The duo also headlined two of WWE's pay-per-view events during their short tenure together, with the first being at Survivor Series[8] and the second at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs.[9]
After their WWE departures in 2019 and 2021, respectively, Jericho had signed with AEW as one of the earliest members of the roster while Wight (formerly Big Show) followed two years later.
History
[edit]World Wrestling Entertainment (2009–2010)
[edit]Jeri-Show was formed in July 2009, following an injury to Edge, making him unable to defend the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship (which consisted of the World Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship) with Chris Jericho. On July 26 at Night of Champions, Jericho revealed Big Show as his new partner and won the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship against The Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase).[10]
The team defended the titles against several challengers during their reign, including Cryme Tyme at SummerSlam,[11] MVP and Mark Henry at Breaking Point,[12] and Batista and Rey Mysterio at Hell in a Cell.[13] In October, Jeri-Show began a feud with D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H), who defeated them in a non-title match on Raw. At Bragging Rights, Big Show turned on Team Raw, helping Jericho lead Team SmackDown to victory, which secured Big Show a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity.[14] At Survivor Series, both men challenged The Undertaker in a triple threat match but failed to capture the title after turning on each other mid-match.[15]
Jeri-Show continued their rivalry with D-Generation X and lost the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship to them at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 13 in a TLC match.[16] They were named "Tag Team of the Year" at the 2009 Slammy Awards and invoked their rematch clause the following night on Raw, but D-X retained the titles via disqualification.[17] A final rematch took place on the January 4, 2010 episode of Raw. After being defeated again, the team officially disbanded.[2]
All Elite Wrestling (2023–2024)
[edit]Jericho filed a trademark to the team name in February 2023 while both him and Big Show, referred by his real name Paul Wight, were signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).[18] The duo got involved in a feud against the Don Callis Family in November.[19][20] They were officially referred to as Jeri-Show during a match at Jericho cruise in January 2024.[21]
