The American Forces Antarctic Network (AFAN) at McMurdo Station began television broadcasts on November 9, 1973.
"It's most likely that the series was marketed and distributed to AFRTS via Lionheart, who had the distribution rights throughout the US and its territories during the mid-1980s, and therefore any "sales" to AFRTS could have been included under all other sales recorded as being to the "United States". "
Certainly interesting, but I'm afraid we'd need something a little more concrete than "most likely" or "plausible", and a more reliable reference to go alongside it. – Rhain☔ (he/him)22:06, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've done a short edit on the canonicity of the 1960s Peter Cushing film, both here and at Dr. Who (Dalek films). But I'm no expert and it would be good if someone looked the edits over and reworded them if necessary. Adpete (talk) 07:45, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Any list or comment about The Doctor's companions in the early days is incomplete without mention of Leela (Louise Jamieson) who travelled with the fourth Doctor. PaulBartleyD (talk) 00:56, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
She's certainly not missing from the actual list. Besides the first three (Susan, Barbara, and Ian), the section on this article mentioned three "notable companions" from the classic series—Romana, Sarah Jane, and Jo—which seems logical as each appeared in at least three seasons. I've added a few more long-running companions (which coincidentally results in at least one per Doctor). – Rhain☔ (he/him)02:30, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is a big sentence anyway, but the comma after "and they are reincarnated" should not be there. Arguably, this sentence should be broken up for clarity. "The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the series with the concept of regeneration into a new incarnation, a plot device in which, when a Time Lord is fatally injured, their cells regenerate and they are reincarnated, into a different body with mannerisms and behaviour, but the same memories, explaining each actor's distinct portrayal, as they all represent different stages in the life of the Doctor and, together, they form a single lifetime with a single narrative." i'm not completely sure what time this post coming from but i think right now it would be best to just remove that anyone is the current doctor/companion right now in the infobox as we're not 100% sure who the doctor is right now, it could be billie or ncuti, of course the fact that we don't know just shows how silly russell t davies is at writiing now 2.102.42.87 (talk) 01:10, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Removing all reference to Piper's appearance in "The Reality War" seems like the wrong approach. While the precise in-fiction reason for her appearance is uncertain, we have numerous reliable secondary sources describing Gatwa regenerating into Piper[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] or otherwise noting recent events in the series.[8][9] This warrants some text in the article. We can do that while still noting some uncertainties, as we do in The Doctor article. Sticking our collective fingers in our ears and pretending nothing has happened, however, is not appropriate. Bondegezou (talk) 15:19, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sticking our collective fingers in our ears and pretending nothing has happened—feel free to remove your fingers from your own ears, because nobody here has been doing that. All attempts to add Piper here have been as the Sixteenth and/or incumbent Doctor, hence the reversions; nobody had gotten around to adding the information here properly. You were welcome to do it yourself, but I've gone ahead and added it based on other articles. – Rhain☔ (he/him)21:16, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
