Kent?

We are told that the family moved to Kent in 1937, and the reference for that is a paper book that I cannot readily lay my hands on (the Internet Archive link is only a preview). Are we sure that that means the English county, which is where "Kent" is linked, or does it perhaps refer to the place called Kent that is much nearer Sooke? I think that somebody who has access to Andy Marshall's 2016 book Thin power : how former Calgary Mayor Rod Sykes stamped his brand on the city ... and scorched some sacred cows should check this out.
