Redundancy

[edit]

This article repeats "Combs was raised Catholic" twice and also mentions how he was an altar boy twice. I feel like this is redundant and unnecessary and one of those instances can be removed. CerealContainer (talk) 01:59, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. Thanks for the suggestion. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:57, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. It is relevant in both sections as it is part of his upbringing and current religious views. Can this be changed back? Mabelist (talk) 01:58, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think if this duplicate content were present at the time of the GA nomination I would have been asked to remove it. Religion is not a big part of his life. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:32, 23 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If it should only be mentioned once, I believe it fits better in Early Life. It is important enough to Combs that his defense team brought up him being a former Catholic altar boy when requesting bail at a hearing. "Mr. Agnifilo tried to convince the judge of his client’s good character, saying he was a religious man who watched a sermon each day and was an altar boy as a child" source Altar boy should be in Early Life but could be removed from Personal Life though. Hi @Diannaa: Is there an update on this? Mabelist (talk) 00:38, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's currently in the section "Religious views"; I think that's pretty suitable. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:17, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's more appropriate in Early Life because the section is about his childhood and upbringing, how he was raised. He does speak about his religious upbringing a lot in interviews and most recently in court at the September 2024 hearing so it is important to him. Mabelist (talk) 02:53, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa: Are you open to seeking a third opinion? And if the dispute continues, we can bring it to the dispute resolution noticeboard. I firmly believe his religious upbringing should be included in Early Life. By the way, many Wikipedia pages list religion in both sections and it isn't an issue. Mabelist (talk) 20:37, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care enough about it to pursue dispute resolution. I have moved it. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:11, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa: can it be changed back to the original phrase "and served as an altar boy"? Mabelist (talk) 23:32, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. CerealContainer (talk) 02:12, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So not only is it redundant, but it's also unnecessary. And it's redundant and unnecessary. Like this comment. DavidFarmbrough (talk) 17:00, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 28 April 2025

I would like to be granted permission to edit Sean Combs's page to add latest updates of his trial, such as his rejection of a plea deal.

I'm afraid that's not how an edit request works. You ask for specific changes to be made, if you have more experience (i.e., edits) you'll be granted those rights automatically. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 18:43, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Can we change the infobox image

[edit]

The current image is alright, but it has a few problems. One of them is that he is in sunglasses. While it is more recent, it poorly depicts him by not showing his eyes. Another one of them is that it is a screenshot straight from a video. I propose this picture from 2012. It is high quality and shows what Diddy's face actually shows like, acting as a better display image in several ways

Wcamp9 (talk) 20:11, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Note the suggested image is already present on the page, in the "Other ventures" section. I have no objection to moving it to the infobox.— Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:15, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If we were to make it the info box image, we would remove it from the Other ventures section Wcamp9 (talk) 12:11, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Let's wait a few days though and see if anyone else is interested in commenting. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:19, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think the 2023 image is perfectly fine. The quality is good and is from less than 2 years ago compared to a photo from over 13 years ago. Many other main wiki photos have sunglasses on. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 08:33, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Combs seems to wear sunglasses often, even while indoors. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:11, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa I agree with changing it. Yes, the picture is 12 years old, but he still looks the same. It wouldn't be the only 12+ year old infobox photo on Wikipedia. Twistybrastrap (talk) 01:56, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Even though it is common recency doesn’t matter as Diddy looks pretty much the same as he does in that photo. Sunglasses are also not preferred in wikipedia photos, as they block eyes Wcamp9 (talk) 02:40, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please change the infobox image to the one that depicts the subject's likeness without sunglasses, which are traditionally used to obscure. On first viewing of the page, I had the same thought as the suggestion here. 1peterk (talk) 16:40, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree Wcamp9 (talk) 11:22, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We can move the image in the Other Ventures section into the info box Lililolol (talk) 00:09, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request for Clarity

[edit]

Please change "He attended UCLA on a football scholarship " to "His son attended UCLA on a football scholarship."

The antecedent of "he" is Sean Combs in the following sentence, which makes more sense. 1peterk (talk) 16:45, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Name?

[edit]

Isn't his common name Diddy? (WP:UCRN) So why isn't the article reflecting that? Lililolol (talk) 23:59, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There's been recent move discussions in February 2025 and August 2024 and there was no consensus to move the page. Talk:Sean Combs/Archive 2#Requested move 28 February 2025; Talk:Sean Combs/Archive 2#Requested move 16 August 2024. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:04, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
